This sermon is on the topic of hunger. First, it will differentiate between the normal hunger we feel between meals and chronic hunger. Quoting from an article on world hunger and its causes, we will note that three causes of world hunger are conflict (wars), climate crises (floods, droughts, major storms, etc.) and poverty (people cannot afford to buy food or land or farming equipment). We will show how chronic hunger will get worse as we approach Christ's return, using the curses mentioned in Leviticus 26 and/or Deuteronomy 28, and prophecies of famine in Matthew 24 and Revelation 6.
We will then show how, in the Millennium, chronic hunger will be solved by eliminating its causes. Swords will be beaten into plowshares, the natural environment will be changed to allow food to be grown where it can't be grown today (deserts turned to gardens) and poverty will not be an issue as people will likely have their own plot of land, enabling them to sit under their own vine or fig tree. We will read numerous scriptures from Isaiah and other prophets about the abundance of food and water in the Millennium.
Finally, as we wrap up, we will note briefly that as wonderful as it will be to eliminate physical hunger, the Millennium will also be a time when an even greater hunger will be satisfied: spiritual hunger. Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled (Mat. 5:6) as nations will flow to Jerusalem seeking to learn God's way.
