The same "basic principles of the world" that threatened Christians in the 1st century are also a threat to God's people today. We as Christians need to be vigilant today, as much as ever, about keeping ourselves spiritually separate from this world and its wisdom, and instead strive to walk only according to Godly wisdom and the principles of Christ.
