Just before the Passover, Jesus saw a fig tree at a distance with leaves on it, so He approached it to look for fruit. When He found none, He cursed the tree which then withered and died. Why did our Savior have such a strong reaction to the lack of fruit on this tree, especially since the gospel of Mark tells us that it was not the season for figs? This passage reminds us of the connection between Passover, Unleavened Bread and Pentecost, and gives us insight into what we are supposed to be doing today as followers of Jesus Christ."
