But before we get there, we'll just review a little bit again the first half of the chapter 30 that we talked about last time, which was three or four weeks ago. As we began chapter 30, you see where God is talking about rebellious children, children who look to the world. He uses the word Egypt there that they will go down to Egypt, but it's the world. The people who look to the world rather than looking to God. We have a problem, we've made a solution, and we look to the world, and the world forgets God. We live in that time in our nation today, even though God has richly blessed America. We look everywhere on earth for our help rather than God. God's people shouldn't be that way. He should be there very first thing in our mind when we have a trial or we have a need to look to him and know and remember that he can provide everything that we need. Then as you go down through the chapter, he talks about the land of trouble. It's referring to Assyria, the beast powers that are there. Down in verse 8, he tells Isaiah, go write it before them on a tablet and note it on a scroll that it may be for a time to come forever and ever, that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear, children who will not hear the law of the Lord. They just won't listen. That's the hardened heart that you and I must absolutely avoid. We must always have tender ears that we listen and that we keep in tune.

Don't tell us what really is happening. Just kind of put us to sleep. Let us just luxuriate in ignorance and speak to us smooth things. Prophesy deceives. We live in that time. People aren't aware of what's going on. Jesus Christ, back in Luke 21, keeps telling us, watch. Watch what's going on. Watch what's going on. Be aware. Don't get lulled to sleep. The world around us is getting lulled to sleep. As all these things happen, all these things happen around us that is changing the very landscape of everything that we have ever lived under. In verse 12, we go down there, because you despise this word, because you trust in the world, trust in oppression. This iniquity will be to you. I just think it's a very great analogy that God gives here. It'll be like a bridge ready to fall, a bulge in a high wall, who's breaking comes suddenly in an instant. And he shall break it like the breaking of the potter's vessel, which is broken in pieces. It's not that it just bursts without any warning. The warning was always there. People just got used to it and didn't pay attention to what was going on. So when it finally burst and everything fell apart and broke into pieces, so there wasn't even a shard enough to pick up an ember from a fire, it was like, well, what happened? What happened? Well, it was there all along. You were just asleep. You weren't paying attention to what was going on. You would have seen what was happening. I think it's in 2 Thessalonians 2, where it says, we'll all come upon the world as a surprise. But it shouldn't be a surprise to the people of God, because we know what's going on. God shows us what's going on. Amos 3 verse 7, I think it is, or verse 9, I think it's verse 7, that says, God doesn't do anything unless he reveals it to his servants, the prophets first. We will know. We may not know exactly how it happens, but if we're keeping in close contact with God and we are in that relationship with Him and studying the word and paying attention, the things won't take us by surprise. It won't be pleasant what goes on, but it is something that we would be aware of. So in verse 15, God says, here's where you're going to find the rest. You're going to find it with me. But even when he says that, they're going to go off and do their own thing until they finally realize there's no other place to rely except on God. And that's what's in verse 18. Therefore, the Lord will wait that he may be gracious to you.
Okay, we can run here and we can run there and we can do everything we want to do. None of it's going to work. God is the only answer. You will wait that he may be gracious to you, and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God who loves us.
Blessed are all those who wait for him. He says what will happen. He promises what will happen. We just have to build our trust in him. And you know, often you'll hear me talk about opportunities to build trust, opportunities to build faith. And you know, when we pray to God and we ask him for four things, when we ask him for healing or ask him to help us healing a relationship or whatever it is, you know, he doesn't always answer immediately.
And he gives us the opportunity to build that faith in him by continuing to have that faith, even though we have to wait for healing to come, relationships or breakthrough or the wisdom we need to address a situation we're dealing with. He gives us that opportunity to build faith. So never, never give up on God. Always increase your faith and you look at him and he will eventually answer, but he gives us that opportunity so that we can build that strong faith that we need.
And that's certainly we're going to need, you know, in the years ahead of us. So that's where we left back several weeks ago. And we were we finished on verse 19 or finish on verse 18. So verse 19, you know, is where we will start tonight. Now in the rest of this chapter, we're going to see a pattern of God, you know, being there and being gracious to people.
You're going to see a pattern of destruction, and then you're going to see a pattern of restoration. And we'll talk about that as we go through there, because God will exact his vengeance and punishment on the world for turning away from him, but he is gracious. He's not willing that any should perish, and that he does have—there is this pattern.
So we'll talk about it. Let's look at verse 19. It says, here we have a millennial scripture, right? A picture of the millennium. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you with the sign of your cry, and when he hears it, he will answer you. So as we look at those verses, we see this is not—you know, this is the time when Jesus Christ has returned to earth.
He's established his kingdom on earth. You and I, if we're faithful to the end, and we let God build in us what he wants to build in us and who he wants us to become, will be there—resurrected firstfruits that will be with him, and we will be working with him, you know, in the various roles that he's prepared us for during this millennium time. And that's what verse 20, you know, talks about. It's that now we're in the time of the millennium. People live over into the millennium. They're still imperfect people, just as you and I are imperfect today.
They have faults. They have errors. Those have to be overcome by them. Just like you and I have our time of overcoming, that will be their time of overcoming. We have God's Holy Spirit to convict us, to help us to see when we've been wrong, or others who tell us, you didn't handle that correctly, or that wasn't right, and we repent, and we turn to God.
And they will have teachers at that time as well. The Holy Spirit will be there. But in verse 20 it says, And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, there will be trials. They will go through sometimes. They will have sometimes where they have to build faith, build trust, get to know God, and put their trust in him. And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers.
Well, today, you know, the people of God, and increasingly so, it'll be like, we don't want to hear what the word of God is. Just put them over in a corner, you know, preach to us smooth things, preach to us deceit. We don't want to hear the word of God. We don't want to live by that. God says, not in that day.
Your teachers won't be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes will see your teachers. Your ears will hear a word behind you saying, this is the way. Walk in it. Whenever you turn to the right hand, or whenever you turn to the left. Now, you know, how that's going to happen, you know, we're going to learn, but there will be teachers. This is likely going to be you and me, right? And we may see people in a wrong attitude.
We may see people about to sin. We may see people who are really angry about to hurt someone, but there will come a time. It's like, uh-uh-uh. That's not the way to do it.
That will stop. And this is the way to do that. You need to overcome. You need to be living the way God wants you to. And I'm sure we'll have the word of God there to teach them, just like we're taught today, as we live by every word. And this is the way walk in it. Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. Because what God wants is walking is that very straight and narrow path in accordance with every word that is written to the Bible. And he uses that phrase, turn to the right and turn to the left. You probably are thinking of a couple of places already where that's it. But let's go back to Deuteronomy 5. You kind of see where he uses that phrase. As you read through the books of the Bible, you see phrases that are common, that you recognize. Take the time to look those up and look at those scriptures. And you can see the continuity of God's word. Deuteronomy 5 is where the second time, the second 10 commandments are listed. In Deuteronomy 5 and verse 32, I'm in the wrong chapter. Chapter 5, verse 32.
Yes, it says, therefore you shall be careful. You know, I will say about keeping God's law earnestly, carefully, and diligently. Therefore you shall be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you. You shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days to the land which you shall possess. And He'll bless you. Don't turn to the left. Don't turn to the right. Do exactly what they say. They're taking their guidance from God, the wisdom and the words of the Bible as well. So, when we read in, I say, a 30, you know, don't turn to the right, turn to the left. We see that's the continuity of the Bible. That's what God says. Live by every word that I speak. The same thing that Jesus Christ said. Live by every word of God. Of course, that's a lifelong process that we learn to live by every word of God. So, if we go back to Isaiah 30, you know, we have the teachers saying, uh-uh, this is the way. Of course, Jesus Christ is the way. We live the way He does. John 14.6, this is the way, the truth, and the life. This is the way. Walk in it. Same way that Jesus Christ walked. In verse 22, it says, you will defile the covering of your images of silver and the ornament of your molded images of gold. So, you know, what it's talking about there, when it says, you will defile it, it's like, you're gonna destroy your idols. You're going to get rid of them. You're going to reject these idols, these little gods that you have. You will defile the covering of your images of silver. They no longer are important to you. You know who the true God is. You follow the true God. He is the only God, and you follow Him. You will defile the ornament of your molded images of gold. They no longer are important. You will get rid of them. You reject the idols and the gods of the world. The same thing that you and I do. We reject the gods of the world, and we choose to put our trust and do put our trust and faith in God. You will throw them away as an unclean thing. You will say to them, get away. You can see the turning to God, the repentance, the turning to God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and getting rid of those old parts of our life that aren't beneficial, that are contrary to God's way of life. We get rid of it. We don't want it anymore. And when we do that, when that's our attitude that we have in verse 23, you have this word, then, when you do that, when there's the fruits of repentance, when you are putting these things away from you, when you are putting these things away from you and you have turned to God, then He will give the rain for your seed with which you sow the ground and bread of the increase of the earth. It will be fat and plentiful. In that day, your cattle will feed in large pastures.

Now that word, then, when I read it, and you may have thought of it, too, well, there's another place in Isaiah that talks about this, if then, if you do it this way, then these good things annoy you. Let's go back farther in the book of Isaiah, back to Isaiah 58.

If we do it the way that He designed to fast to do it, what would be the benefits of it? What would happen? So let's just read through some of that, because it's the same type structure that He has there in Isaiah 30. In verse 6 of Isaiah 58, He says, Isn't this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Meaning, what is holding me back? God, free me of the things that are keeping me in this state of sin. Break my attitudes apart, so that I see you and see what I need to do. Bring me into a repentance and a recognition of what my sin is and who I am, that I may please you the way that I want. Not the pointing of the fingers, as He says later on in the chapter in verse 9. But this is the fast, to see God and to see what we need to do in order to please Him. Is it not to share, verse 7, your bread with the hungry, that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out, when you see the naked that you cover Him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh? This is the type of things, the outward, the love for other people, the things that God wants us to do. And then when we do that, when we see that, there's that word, then, then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you. The glory of the Lord shall be your rearguard. You will call, and the Lord will answer. You will cry, and He will say, here I am. If you do this, if you do it the right way, if you do it the way God says, and let Him lead you into that, then that wonderful state that He has there in verses 8 and 9 are there.
Verse 10, if you extend your soul to the hungry, and if you satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday.
God will guide you continually. He will satisfy your soul and drought. He will strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail, and those from among you shall build the old waste places. We do what God wants, and He blesses.
Verse 13 talks about the Sabbath day. It's time for us to give that 24-hour period to God and yield to Him, and He says, if you do that, if you keep the Sabbath, if you call it a delight, if you keep it holy the way I say, and we learn that throughout our lives, then, then you shall delight yourself in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride on the high heels of the earth and feed you with the heritage of Jacob, your father, and the line there is, the mouth of the Lord has spoken. When He says it, it will happen. If we do it with our heart, He will provide. So we have this, if then, in Isaiah 30, we say that in the millennium time, the millennial time, when the people are there. They will learn. You and I will be teaching them. He's saying, no, that isn't the way to react to that, though that isn't the way to handle that situation. Here's the way to do it, and they will do that. And then, then when God, when the world is living His way of life, as we read in verses 23 and 24, and we're going to go to 25 now in Isaiah 30, He will provide these, these blessings. Verse 25 of Isaiah 30, there will be on every high mountain and on every high hill, rivers, and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter when the towers fall. So we have this kind of like, here's a blessing. There's going to be these rivers and streams of waters, and it's notable, as one commentary pointed out, that in the pagan areas, on every high mountain, on every high hill, there were idols. I don't know if there was everyone, but when you would go to these cities, like in where we visited in Turkey, and even in Greece, those of you who have been over there, they would always put their temple on a high hill. It was always going to be the highest place, and you would look up there and you'd see temples, pagan gods, and whatever. Every high mountain, every high hill, there will be rivers and streams of waters, blessing of that days, in the day of the great slaughter when the towers fall. And that's the thing, when the towers fall. We might look at that and say, what does God mean by when the towers fall? But we've talked about this, and we've learned the Bible interprets itself. You can go online, you can go to Bible Gateway, type in when the towers fall, and you can find other places in the Bible where God talks about these towers and what they represent.
One of them happens to be right here in the book of Isaiah. If we go back to Isaiah 2, we see let's see, first right here. Hold on just a minute.

And yeah, we see the same kind of verbiage in verse 14, right? Upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall, upon all the ships of Tarshish, and all the beautiful sloops, the loftiness of man shall be bowed down. By the way, I should have started with verse 12. Let me go back to verse 12. The day of the Lord of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, upon everything lifted up, and it shall be brought low, upon all the cedars of Levitin that are high lifted up, upon all the oaks of Vation, upon all the high mountains, upon all the hills that are lifted up, every high tower, every fortified wall, all the ships of Tarshish, and all the beautiful sloops, the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low. The Lord alone will be exalted in that day. The idols he will utterly abolish. So when we read of these towers, it's talking about these proud nations, this pride that fills the earth. And as we look at the end time before the return of Jesus Christ, we have a beast power, Revelation 13 talks about. We have powers in the east that threaten, that are, you have the conflict between the king of the north and the beast power, and the king of the east, they gather together at the battle of Armageddon, and of course Christ comes and he vanquishes those armies, the hundreds of millions of men who are gathered there. So you have this pride that's there. As we've looked through some of the history of Isaiah and his time with Assyria and Babylon, it was always pride. Pride, pride, pride, and God would bring them low. The same thing that would happen in Israel, the same thing that happened to Judah, the same thing that's in America and the English-speaking nations today, the pride that's there, God will always bring it low. And so in verse 25, so he's talking about it's the day of the great slaughter when the towers fall. Now the great slaughter, if we think about what the great slaughter is, certainly in Revelation 19, I don't know that I need to turn back there, but when Christ returns, he vanquishes that army that's gathered together to fight him. And he comes and just demolishes them, and the flesh is there for the birds to eat. We're going to be back to Revelation 19 in a few minutes, and you can look at that as them, but I know that you know that verse. So that's a great slaughter. It can't get much of a greater slaughter than the hundreds of millions who will be slaughtered at the time that Jesus Christ returned as they gather to fight against him. So again, we see that we're here at this time as we go to 25. You know, we've got this this conflict here. We've got this time of destruction, if you will. The great slaughter, the nations will be brought down, the pride nations. And in verse 26 it says, Moreover, the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold as the light of seven days.
Now, I mean, you can look at that. You might look at that and say, well, God does that as a healing, a healing process, right? Because the last part of that verse 26 says, that happens in the day that the Lord binds up the ruse of his people and heals the stroke of their wound. But if we think about it, you know, if the light of the moon was as the light of the sun, that would be pretty intense heat in the night. No matter where we live, we welcome the cool of the night as the time goes down. And if the light of the sun was sevenfold over what it was, that would be pretty intense heat. I don't know that many people would be like praising God because it was seven times hotter, that sun, than it is on us in the winter. They may instead be looking at that as a trial. They may instead be looking at that as a punishment from God. And indeed, you know, if we go back to Revelation 16, we see there is this time at the time of the end, during the time of the trumpets, that there is this time of intense heat that is there. Revelation 16.

And then it's followed up by this time of restoration at the last part of 26. So God, those trumpet plagues come, there's intense heat in the day that the Lord binds up the brews of his people. Well, his people, if he's talking about physical Israel here, which he is, I mean, they have been bruised. They have been bandied about. They have been abused, afflicted. They have been scattered all over the world. They have lost everything that they had by refusing to follow God. It has been a time of trial unlike any other time in the history of the earth, it says. The time of Jacob's trouble, the great tribulation they've been through a lot. But God says, I will bind them up and I will heal the stroke of their wound. And verse 27, then, you know, he talks about the restoration. The name of the Lord comes from afar.
Well, before I go there, let's, you know, let me talk about the restoration. You know, we, God does have this time of restoration, and I do want to turn to Acts 3.
Now remind us of that, because Acts 3, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19. Let's talk about that time when Jesus Christ will return. And he talks about it being the time of the restoration of all things. And verse, verse 18, of Acts 3. But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all his prophets, and when he's talking about all his prophets, that's all these Old Testament prophets that we've been reading about that have prophetic times for the end of time, those things which God foretold by the mouth of all his prophets, that the Christ would suffer, he has thus fulfilled. We know that. We just been through Passover, where we recounted Christ's suffering exactly the way that God said it would be, exactly the way Christ knew that it would be done before the foundation of the world that was planned. He fulfilled it exactly the way the Bible said. And so, as a result, when we accept his sacrifice, verse 19, repent, that means turn to God with all our heart's mind and soul, repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. So, even in the Old Testament, it's pointing to the time of Jesus Christ's return to this earth when he will establish his kingdom, and the world will be restored physically and spiritually to what God, the way God had intended it to be. So, when we talk about restoration, and here in chapter 30, and we're going to see it in the very short chapter 31 as well, we see this restoration, a time of trouble. The Feast of Trumpets talks about the time of trouble, Jesus Christ returning, and then the restoration that comes through. So, in verse 27, if we go back to Isaiah 30 then, as we have this theme running through this chapter, it says, Behold, the name of the Lord comes from afar, burning with his anger. Well, he is angry. He is angry. He is going to come, and he is going to smite the nations.
He is burning with anger from the way the world has rejected him, turned against him. Behold, the name of the Lord comes from afar, burning with his anger, and his burden is heavy, as lips are full of indignation and his tongue like a devouring fire. His breath is like an overflowing stream which reaches up to the neck to sift the nations with the sieve of futility.
It's like he will. It will be overwhelming what he does to the earth and how he handles them.
How he handles them. The plagues that will come upon the earth, the trumpet plagues, all designed, though, to wake the world up that they may turn to God.
That's the wake-up call, and it's the punishment for the way mankind has lived their lives in rejection of God. Lips are full of indignation, tongue like a devouring fire. Verse 28, look at my notes again. I know I've got a verse that I wrote down on that one. Let me see if I can find it real quickly here. Verse 28. Isaiah 43. Compare that to Isaiah 43.
When I read that, I remember reading about the rivers that are overflowing, that God is, when those things are overwhelming us, that God is there to see us through those times. In Isaiah 43, he has similar language to that. Isaiah 43, this is a very encouraging verse that shows how God cares for us and watches over us. But in Isaiah 43, verse 1, it says, But now thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob. Jacob, of course, is Israel, his people, the descendants of Jacob, the twelve tribes of Israel, and he who formed you, O Israel. Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, nor shall the flames scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopian sieve in your place. Since you were precious in my sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you. Therefore, I will give men for you and people for your life. You know, God there gets, well, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you. When you pass through the fire, it won't scorch you. Trust in me. I love you. I will take care of you. And all these things will be happening around us. But if we are who God wants us to be, if we have yielded to Him, if we have our complete faith in Him, He doesn't promise there will never be pain or trial or whatever, but He will see us through. And we always have to keep that in mind and always have the faith in Him that no matter what happens, He will see us through because His will is that we would have eternal life.
So let's go back to Isaiah 30 here for a second. On that for more than a second, actually.

You know, when I was reading this just now with Isaiah 43 verse 2, when it mentioned, when it says, pass through the waters, I will be with you, and then through the rivers not overflowing, then walking through the fire, it kind of made me think of Israel leaving Egypt passing through the waters. And then when they crossed over the river, Jordan, the water wasn't overflowing, then walking through fire may kind of remind me of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as well. It's like it made me think of, you know, these heroes of faith and these miracles and these great things that God has done. He did it for them, and He says He'll do the same thing for us as well. Very good. Yeah, tremendous examples. Exactly. Very good. So.
Okay, verse 20. We were up in 28. Let's, I stopped in the middle of the verse there.
Breath is like an overflowing stream which reaches up to the neck. Two sith the nations with the sieve of futility. You know, the sieve of futility, that the nations, they're going to be trying everything they can possibly do in order to accomplish whatever their will is. None of it is going to work, right? It's not going to work. If it's God's will, it's not going to work.
It's simply not going to be that way. I've, we read back in a prior chapter of Isaiah where God frustrates everything that a nation will do. What he, you know, so they may try to do this. They may try to conquer this. They may try to do that. But God will frustrate everything that he has. He is in control is what this is telling us.
And that nothing that they attempt to do will be able to be done because he will frustrate them and they will live in futility or live in vain, right? It'll just, it'll be nothing. Nothing, if God determines it's not going to happen, it's not going to happen.
He says the same thing there in the next phrase, and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people. A bridle. You know, you have a bridle like a horse when you're, you have a horse, the bridle's there to keep control of the horse. God is in control, it's telling us there. There, there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people causing them to err.
So that, that's what's going to be there, right? When, when he, when he's in control in this time when the world is transitioning and then the time of the end to the time that Jesus Christ will return. Verse 29, then, and I think it's a beautiful verse as well, kind of reminds us of the night to be, you know, Mike, to me, much observe what we just, we just, you know, observed in the last couple weeks here.
You shall have a song, he says, and the word is you, you shall have a song, as in the night when a holy festival is kept, and gladness of heart is when one goes out with a flute to come to the mountain of the Lord to the mighty one of Israel. Of course, when we read to the, of the mountain of the Lord, we think of Isaiah 2 when it says the people will come to the mountain of the Lord, all the nations will flow there, the law will go out from Jerusalem. It's this time of peace, this time of, this time of harmony, this time of joy, this time when Jesus Christ is on earth, the whole world is living the same way.
So you see this thing, but you shall have a song as in the night when a holy festival is kept, and it's interesting that God says that because we have, you know, the night to be much observed that we've only, that we, you know, just observed within the last few weeks here as the days of 11 bread began. And, you know, we all gathered with people of like mind to observe that night.
And there was a, that was a time of rejoicing, but also a time of solemnity, right? Because Israel, as we remember, had, God had just brought them out of, of Egypt, and they were in awe at what God had done, just like we're in awe when we think about our lives and where we would be if God hadn't brought us out of Egypt.
So, but this was a time that the holy festival, the seven-day festival begins, and God, you know, says, observed that, observed that festival on that night. It's a night to be much observed, he says in Exodus 12, verse 42. You know, we have another seven-day festival, the Feast of Tabernacles, and, you know, we have an opening night almost at every feast site in America and, and I guess around the world, where it's possible with the halls that we rent, we have an opening night service. That's supposed to be a time of rejoicing, guys. People have all gotten to the feast.
They've been there. They've come exactly where God had told them to be. They're ready for the feast to begin when the sun sets on the 15th of the seventh day, and that should be a time of rejoicing when we go to the holy convocation that night. And there should be a song. You shall have a song, as in the night when a holy festival is kept, that when that day begins. So, you know, kind of preempting my, my letter a little bit tomorrow, because I'll talk about that as we prepare for the Feast of Tavernacles with registration having just opened this week.
You know, we need to be at the feast. We need to be ready to observe the feast and get it, get it started the way that God said this, get it started on the, as the sun sets on the 15th of that seventh month and be there, you know, with a song in our heart as we praise God, certainly in the festival in the Feast of Tavernacles when Christ has returned and we're picturing that great time that that festival represents when, you know, we'll be singing, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, right?
So, verse 30. Verse 30, the Lord will cause his glorious voice to be heard.
People will hear him then. They don't want to hear him now, right? They don't want to hear anything about him now. Just read in Revelation 16, even when there's intense heat, they're not going to turn to God. Just get away from us. We don't want what you have to offer is what the, the, the, the response from humanity to God is. The Lord will cause his glorious voice to be heard and show the descent of his arm.
When we descend our arm, you know, a lot of times that's smacking something, right? I mean, you see, you've seen leaders in the past of nations when they lay that arm, there's something that's going to happen. The Lord will cause his glorious voice to be heard and show the descent of his arm with the indignation of his anger and the flame of a devouring fire, the scattering tempest and hailstones. There is something. There will be the time of his vengeance. There is the time. There is the time of the mountain of the Lord, but there will be the time when God's wrath is.
God's wrath is followed by a time of peace and restoration. For through the voice of the Lord, verse 31, the Syria, oh, with scattering tempest and hailstones. I mentioned that earlier in today in our Florida, I know they had that hailstorm. When we see hailstones in the Bible, but almost always, I'm going to say almost always because there may be an instance where hail isn't associated with the time of trouble. Let me just remind you of Job 38. Job 38, it talks about what God says.
I reserve the treasury of snow for a time of trouble and the hailstones. Remember, we read that a few weeks back, or a few months back probably by now. But in Job 38, it says the hailstones. I reserve that for a time of trouble. And of course, we were in Revelation 16. We may as well go back to Revelation 16 again. Since Isaiah does a lot of what we read in Isaiah, we see the explanation and the furtherance of it here in the book of Revelation.
The two books 800 years apart, Isaiah was in the 700s BC. The Apostle John recorded what was given him in a vision around 90 AD, but in Revelation 16 verse 21 it says, Great hail, great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. What did men do? They blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail since that plague was exceedingly great.
So, you know, when we see hail, it's typically a time of trouble. God uses that hail for a purpose, especially these hailstorms that they're prophesied in Revelation. Verse 31, going back to Isaiah 30 then, where through the voice of the Lord, Assyria will be beaten down.
Now, we remember ancient Assyria. They were the strongest, cruelest nation on earth at that time. It was God who defeated Assyria. We read through those verses where Assyria was proud, arrogant, and God said, you know, and they were glorying in their in their thankwishing of all the nations around them and everything. They did not understand that it was God who gave them the power to do that.
God destroyed them. Of course, there's an end time Assyria, you know, like the beast power. Babylon is the system that it's called in Revelation 18. It's a very autocratic, tyrannical system. It causes people to bow down before a foreign god. It brings back the time of people worship, idolatry worship. The mark of the beast is part of that.
You know, again, when you look at the mark of the beast, it's like, you know, you will do this. You will handle this this way, or you will not. The Bible says that that time will be that you will not be able to sell and engage in any commerce. And again, as we look at the world around us, and we read about these digital currencies that are coming, and we read about how, you know, our our our brethren here in Canada are with us, you know, back last last winter when they had the trucking convoy and protest against them what the government is doing, how they shut down bank accounts.
And, you know, you read what the economists are saying, you read what's going on in the banking industry, and you can kind of see this move toward we want people's money to be in one place where we can control it. And with a stroke of a pen or actually a stroke of a button, you know, they can kind of control everything we do. We don't like, we don't like the email you sent, we don't like what you're worshiping.
You could have a billion dollars in the bank, but you're not going to have access to it. That's the type of autocratic, total controlled government that you see in Revelation 13. Now we see we see the blossoms beginning in the world around us now, all under the guise of, you know, more freedom or whatever it is, controlling misinformation.
And there will become a time when the Word of God is labeled as misinformation, but we'll be preaching it anyway, and we'll be believing it anyway. So, for through the voice of the Lord, a serial will be beaten down. That power will be great. Remember, in Revelation 13, it says, the whole world bows down before this beast. They are in awe of what has happened because the world has been in complete chaos as it entered a time that has never been seen on earth before.
Apparently, economies have completely... the world has just been totally, totally upended. They don't know what to do, and out of the sea comes this beast that is kind of seen as a savior of the world. They have a military might. They have an economy that they're able to do. Only God can bring it down, but it is a seat that clearly the power comes from Satan, and God is the one who destroys it.
It says in verse 31, For through the voice of the Lord, a serial will be beaten down as he strikes with the rod.
You know, I have written down there Revelation 19 verse 15. Remember, when Christ returns, he comes with a rod of iron, right? When he comes with his armies behind him, he comes down, he strikes the nations with a rod of iron. And there we have 31. He returns, he beats down those armies. Literally, they are assembled there together with all the combined weaponry of the world focused on Christ, and literally in no time he just wipes them out. A serial will be beaten down as he strikes with the rod, and in every place where the staff of punishment passes, which the Lord lays on him, it will be with tambourines and harps, and in battles of brandishing, he will fight with it. There will be people will be rejoicing at the overthrow of that government. God's people will be. But there it is. It's God. He's going to win the victory. It will never—it won't be mad that wins the victory over that. It will be God who wins the victory in those battles of brandishing that he will fight with it. Very descriptive if you go back and look at Revelation 19 and see the fulfillment of that and the prophecies that are the times that you lay yet ahead of us. Then in verse 33, as chapter 30 ends, we have this very interesting verse that's there and this word that shows up. It says, for Tophat, Tophat was established of old. Yes, for the king, it is prepared. He has made it deep and large. Its pyre is fire with much wood. The breath of the wood, lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it. So if you looked up that word, tofeth, and strongs, you see its number 8613 in Hebrew. And it's the only time in the Bible that that word, tofeth, is used. But when you research it further, it says it's very similar to 8612. In fact, it has the very same meaning, and it's even translated tofeth, but it's a slightly different word. 8612 is than 8613, yet they mean the same thing. And in the English Bible, it's tofeth. And even in strongs, it'll say same as 8612, but it's 8613. So as you look at tofeth, and you think, what is that that God puts it out for? Tofeth was established of old. Yes, for the king, it is prepared. He has made it deep and large. Its pyre is fire with much wood. The breath of the eternal, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it. So tofeth, you know, is a type of, you know, talks about the valley of Hinnom. And I'm gonna put up—actually, first let's go to Jeremiah. Jeremiah 7, because tofeth shows up in other places of the Bible, too. Here in the prophetic book of Jeremiah, it shows up several times, but where it shows up in Jeremiah is 8612, not the one time that 8613 tofeth shows up in Isaiah 30 verse 33. So if we look at Jeremiah 7 and—is it verse 13? Let me look at my notes here. Oh no, Jeremiah 7 verse 31.
Yeah, Jeremiah 7 verse 31. They have built the high places of tofeth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my heart. So God is talking about child sacrifice there, and they would—they're in tofeth in the valley of Hinnom, which is outside Jerusalem. There they would burn their sons and their daughters in sacrifice to their pagan gods, something that God said he absolutely hates. And it's like it's a line that God draws when a nation begins sacrificing their children to their gods. You know, it's like you cross the line because God says, it didn't even come into my heart. That's not something I ever intended. Look how evil mankind is. We can draw all the analogies today. There's always, you know, for most of our lifetimes, abortion has been a fact of life in America. Recently, it's taken a turn for the worst, where some states have enacted laws that allow abortion up to the date of birth, which, you know, clearly is child sacrifice, sacrificing to your own self and your own God and whatever. And some people have almost championed abortion as something to worship. It's just one of these most wonderful rites that we have. It's just been elevated to a level that's beyond even reason. So we have this in verse 31 of chapter 7. And verse 32 says, therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the eternal, when it will no more be called tophat or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter, for they will bury in tophat until there is no room. It's a time, where in this valley, when this valley is going to be filled with people that are dead, they will bury in tophat. And remember, we talked about a great slaughter back a few verses ago, where they will bury in tophat until there is no room. So Jeremiah 19, Jeremiah 19 and verse 6, God talks about this tophat. Again, Jeremiah 19 verse 6, therefore, in verse 5, he talks about how they're offering to Baal and whatever. Again, he talks about this didn't even come into my mind. Verse 6, therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the eternal, that this place shall no more be called tophat or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter. Repeats it again. If we drop down to verse 13, and the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be defiled like the place of tophat, because of all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven and poured out drink offerings to other gods. So we have tophat that is associated with fire, fire, destruction, death. Yeah, Jim, if you want to make a comment, go ahead.
Yeah, you're muted right now. Okay, go on. Now, can you hear me? Yes. Okay. What are we doing to our children today? We're mutilating them. What is the difference between mutilating our children and throwing them in a fire? Because basically, as our children grow older, they're not going to have children. They're not going to have children. They're not going to reproduce or ruin. Isn't that what we're doing today? Yeah, you know, you're exactly right. I think of abortion, but right, what's going on with this transgender stuff with the young kids? You're exactly right. What we're doing to children is appalling to God and anyone who's thinking clearly. So good point. So we have this tofett. I'm going to put up now something from our the UCG Bible commentary that refers to Isaiah 30 here, and I'm just going to read it. We're going to find this in 31.9 as well. You just look ahead at 31.9. It talks about the fire that's in Zion, the furnace that's in Jerusalem. Let me just read through this because I think it's quite interesting. When we look at tofett, you can all see this, right? When we look at tofett, what it meant in ancient Jerusalem, this valley of fire, this hinam where bodies were burned, bodies were buried, and God says the valley is going to be filled up with fire on what's written in the Bible. Let me just read through this. It says, it's interesting to note that God says tofett was prepared for the ruler of Assyria. We read that, it says there in verse 33, it was established of old, yes, for the king it is prepared. Just keep that in mind. Interesting to note that God says tofett was prepared for the ruler of Assyria. Here, a reference to the end-time European dictator known as the beast in Revelation. God said in Joel 3 that the destruction on his enemies at the end would occur in the valley of Jehoshaphat, which is often identified with the Kidron Valley. Jesus used Gehenna, the guy hinam, the valley of hinam outside Jerusalem where trash was burned, to represent the coming lake of fire, which according to the book of the Revelation will burn up the wicked.
We'll pause there for a moment. For tofett was established of old. There was the hinam of the old. There was the fire. That's where the trash was burned. But for the king, it is prepared.
So if we go over to Revelation 19, and we'll come back and read the rest of that Bible commentary that references that. For the king, it was prepared. In Revelation 19, it talks about that time of Jesus Christ returning. The armies are vanquished. They're destroyed. There's a great slaughter. The great slaughter of all these people. The valley is filled with dead flesh.
In verse 20 of Revelation 19, I'm going to read it verse 19 first. I saw the beast, I'm in Revelation 19, I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make war against him who sat on the horse and against his army, speaking of Christ. Then the beast was captured. Well, that's a man. We know who that is from Revelation 13. The beast was captured and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. So literally, God says, these two are thrown into this lake of fire right there at the time of Jesus Christ's return. So if we look at verse 33 in Isaiah 30 again, it says, yes, tophat was established for the king. It is prepared.
So we have the false prophet, we have the beast, we have them thrown into a lake of fire that Christ ignites. He has made it deep and large. Its pyre is fire with much wood. The breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it. So we have this picture. We have a lake of fire that's there in the valley of Hinnom. And then we have this valley that's absolutely filled with dead bodies, right? Just filled with dead bodies in this very place that God talks about, that there won't be any room to bury them. Now, if we go back to the Bible commentary, then we just read Revelation 19 and 20. But putting it all together, what we're reading here in chapter 30, in verse 33, it says, in Revelation 19 and 20, we learn that the beast and his accomplice, the false prophet will be cast into the lake of fire. So it exists at that time that they're there, which appears to be a reference to this place of Topheth where the Kidron and Hinnom valleys meet. Christ will evidently ignite Hinnom and will perhaps—notice the word perhaps—but this is an interesting thing to think about. Christ will evidently ignite Hinnom and will perhaps keep it burning throughout the millennium since Satan is cast into the lake of fire where the beast and false prophet were cast, and he is cast there at the end of the thousand years. So I don't know if you still have your finger in Revelation, but we have this fire that's ignited at the time of Christ's return. The beast and false prophet are thrown into this valley of Hinnom, this lake of fire, this Topheth that's there. And in Revelation 20, we see that Satan is thrown into there. Revelation 20, and verse 10, the devil who deceived them—remember Satan is released at the end of the thousand years for some reason, even though people have seen the beauty of Christ's way of life. They follow him and they yield to him, and he deceives them. The devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where—that's the same place—the beast and the false prophet—man has given the word were. They're burned up, right? He's cast into the same lake of fire where the beast and the false prophet were. Where we know that is, that's in the valley of Hinnom, this Topheth, the same thing that we talked about where it is in Jeremiah 7. And again, absolutely just the word perhaps, right? Perhaps that fire stays lit throughout the millennium, because what a powerful teaching tool that would be for people who have lived over into the millennium, who have seen Jesus Christ's return, who see Satan bound for a thousand years, who see the result of fighting against God, and the beast and false prophet are thrown into a fire. You have a valley burned with a valley filled with things, and that fire would be burning as a constant reminder. You yield to God, there are two things. Eternal life if you yield to God, or eternal death if you do not. And of course, I have a—go ahead, does someone have their hand up?
Yeah, I got a question. Okay. Satan is spiritual. How can he be burnt up?
I don't—I'm just reading what the Bible says.
God's got that answer. I don't. Does it say he's burned up, or he's just cast into the—he was cast into the lake of fire at Brinstone, where the beast and the prophet are. He doesn't say he's burned up. He was just cast into the lake of fire. Okay. Okay. There's a way. The other point is that God created and destroyed, even if it's spirit. Yeah. Well, God will lead us into what—he knows what's going on. What will happen with him. We do have Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28. That does indicate there could be an end to Satan, but that's for God to reveal to us somewhere down the road.
Plus, Brother Shaby. Yes, sir. Plus, we also have in Revelation 20, what's that? Verse 10, it says they're tormented. And then also in Peter, it says in the blackness of darkness of forever and ever.
So, with God's help, we just have to be on the right side, and we'll know exactly what happens. Exactly. But it does say what it says. He will let us know when he's ready to let us know, right? And just following up on the lake of fire, then we have down in Revelation 20, after the white throne judgment, verse 12, it says the dead were judged according to their works by the things which were written in the books, the Bible. Each was judged, each one according to his works. Death and Hades were cast in the lake of fire, and anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Apparently, the same lake of fire that the beast and prophet were thrown into, that Satan was thrown into, that's the second death. Yes, Herb.
Oh, did you have something else, Herb? No, that's all. I'm sorry, I forgot to lower my hand. That's okay. So, I want to just, you know, once in a while, you know, I don't like to speculate, but I want to underline exclamation point, all caps speculate. So, if indeed, when we see this we're looking, if this fire were to exist during the entire millennium, and if it's not, if it doesn't exist all thousand years, it's the same fire, right? As we have it, thus it is a fire in the same place, if not the very same fire, this fire will eventually engulf and purify the entire earth, burning up all the incorrigibly wicked. And we know that the Bible says, at the end of the purpose for the physical earth, the earth will be burned up, and will be replaced with a new heaven and new earth that we read about in Revelation 21 and 22. So, if you have a lake of fire that's already been ignited by Christ, the beast and the false prophet are there, at the end of this thousand years, Satan is cast into the lake of fire. And so, you know, we have that. All the rest of the dead, the Bible says, all the rest of the dead are resurrected in the second resurrection. All the rest of the dead are resurrected in the second resurrection.
All the first fruits, right, that's as God leads us, and as we yield to God, that's you and me, those who He's called now who repent and who follow God, those will be the first fruits resurrected in the first resurrection. All the rest of the dead resurrected in the second resurrection, and they will be judged. So, the question is then, you know, we've for a long time, the church has speculated that there's a third resurrection, but the Bible doesn't talk about a third resurrection. When does God judge those who, when might God judge those who in this lifetime have rejected God or had such a hardened heart against Him that they can't be redeemed? Let's leave that as a thought. You know, God knows where and when and everything. Everything is done in order. Everything is done in order, but we will see. We will see how God leads that.
But He does talk about just two resurrections and the judgment at that time. So, Jim, did you have a comment? Yes, I'm a day late, no short, sorry. We're going back to what the gentleman brought up. You know, if the devil died, you know, if there's a spirit, there's a deal that throws in the devil who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimmed some where there'll be some false prophet. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Now, that's just three. It doesn't mean all of us. It's just those three will be tormented in that lake of fire, and that thing might burn forever. It says what it does here. Well, yeah, no, I think it will burn forever. I don't, I mean, the beast of the false prophet, we don't believe they're going to be tormented day and night forever. They will die, right? Satan, it doesn't say that about Satan. Greek is war, isn't it? Do what? Greek is war. Man has put that word on. They were tormented there. The devil who deceived them, yeah, they will be tormented day and night forever. Yeah, we, I mean, right now we do not believe that the beast of false prophet will be tormented. That's the fire that we believe is that people, otherwise, they would have eternal life. And God is merciful, so that's just the eternal death. Mr. Shady? Yes, sir. Then, I guess, logically following the thought, you know, if the fire at the end will engulf the whole earth, like you mentioned, I think, in 2 Peter, that says that basically all the earth will be burned up, so that indicates that fire is going to have an end.
It won't be burning forever and ever because you're going to have a new earth and a new heaven, so that fire will eventually be extinguished after basically it burns off the earth. Yeah. So that's probably an indication that whoever was thrown into that fire sooner or later will be burned up. It will no longer exist. It would indicate that, right? And a lot of times, forever and ever, you know, as Christ said, as long as heaven and earth exists, right? So that would be forever and ever. Hello. May I say something? Yeah, good evening. The biggest cost profits were cast in the fire of thousands before because at the end of their win, the European Union, the actual fire that happened a thousand years before what is happening, in Revelation 20 verse 10. Yeah, that's a thousand years before.
Be sent well for profit. A thousand years before. We say Satan is disgusting. Yeah. Well, well, remember, okay, if we look at Revelation 20, there's two times the case Satan is cast. Revelation 20 verse 2, at the time that Jesus Christ returns, right? In verse 20, he says, he laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years and cast him into the bottomless pit. Doesn't say the lake of fire there. Cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up, set a seal on him, so he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years were finished. Then he's released, right? He is successful. Yes. As people follow him. And then, in verse 10, he's cast into the lake of fire. Yes, that's what I'm saying. Yeah. May I continue? Yeah. I'm saying that the false prophets and the beast were cast in the lake of fire a thousand years before Satan is put in. Oh, yes, you're, yes. Okay. Yes.

I don't know, but it's just one of those things. Being a movie guy, old school, old school, everyone has seen the Superwoman movie, where they had what they call the Phantom Zone, correct? It was a place of blackness of darkness, but the story goes, they escape the Phantom Zone.
They break free, or something causes them to break free. You see these little similes that they plagiarized from the Bible, and then they polluted. No, you're right. When you watch a lot of those movies, you can kind of see biblical themes in them. Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, that's interesting, the wandering stars, wandering stars, and to think about that in context of all this as well. Okay, yeah, Wayne. Mr. Shabey, when a fire, you say a fire is there, and you don't quench it? And the fire will go out when the material that's burning runs out.
I remember reading that in a book years ago from WCG, and that's what they explained about the unquenchable fire, or unquenching fire. The fire is not quenched, but a fire will go out if it runs out of material to be burning. Good thought. You're exactly right. As long as you put the wood on the fire, it keeps burning. If you don't put the wood on, it fades out. So excellent, yeah.

There will be a new heaven and new earth. Yeah, there will be no more sea. Yeah, that's the new heaven and new earth. At that time, the earth has been burned up. The lake of fire is gone at that point.
Yes, which made me think, does fire burn up the sea? I don't know, because water doesn't really burn. It just kind of made me think of this odd thing. How does that go together?
Well, I think the whole earth as we know it just disappears. So, I mean, God burns it all up and it's replaced by a brand new heaven.
I mean, during the burning, like the oceans, how the oceans burn, I guess, is in my mind. But I haven't really thought it through yet.
God has the answer to that one. I don't know, but we know it's going to happen because He said it would, right? So, right. Thank you.

I have a question and it's kind of similar to what Becky said just now. I wish to know your thoughts about death and Hades being cast into the lake of fire. Death and Hades being cast into the lake of fire. We know that death and Hades are not human and they are combustible materials.
So, I don't understand. What are your thoughts on death, please?
Yeah, well, death, I mean, when Christ returns, right, death is done. He's the victor over death. Though death is done at the time the earth is done. Death came upon mankind because of sin, right? We earn death because of sin. So, when the earth is done, people have eternal life at that point. So, death is gone. That's over, right? Death is done. And the same thing with the Hades. When we die our first death, as it says in Hebrews 9, 27, is appointed to unold men to die once and then we're resurrected. When we're resurrected to eternal life, there is no more death. When we read Revelation 21, 22, there is no more death. So, death is cast in. That's part of this earth. It's gone. Hades, the grave where we go and when we die and wait for the return of Jesus Christ, right, that we're unconscious during that time, that's all gone, too. There is no more. There is no more physical death. So, I always looked at that as death and Hades were cast in the lake of fire. It's burned up with the rest of the earth. All those elements of the physical earth are gone. There is no more death. There is no more Hades at that point.

Remember in the first Corinthians 15? Jesus Christ has the victory over death.
Yeah. Yeah, that's true. I was just wondering about them being cast into the lake of fire like the rest of the in the before you moved. Well, I mean, I always looked at that as just kind of figurative, right? Every element of this life is just in that all the physical earth is just done and that death is over, the grave is over, and it's all cast in the lake of fire. If someone else has heard something else about that, I'd be more than happy to hear that. That's always the way I understood it.
I just think it as death and Hades will be no more. They're gone. Like, figuratively, like you said.

Isaiah 5.25. Therefore, the anger of the Lord is aroused against his people. He has stretched out his hand against them and stricken them, and the hills trembled.

I think it's like you said, that's you read what it says in there, but also, we have to have complete trust in God that Satan will be done away with. The details, how it happens, is irrelevant. He's not going to be around. So however God and Creator does it, we just have to trust it will be done. Yeah, and if we live our lives the way we want, when we're filled with the Holy Spirit, Satan will have no effect on us anymore, right? Just like Jesus Christ said about himself, he has nothing in me. We read it pass over, right? Meaning he has no power over me. He will have no power over us either, because we will have rejected him.
Let me just think on 24. I just don't want to answer it tonight and then have to correct myself. Let me just think about that. I think I know what it means, but yeah, I wrote down those two references, Berta, and we'll talk about it as we begin next week, if that's okay.
