The Cup That Christ Did Not Want to Drink

Thank you, Mr. Garcia. Gracias, Señor Garcia, Gabriel, for the music. Good morning, everyone. One of my goals for studying English is to understand the lyrics of the songs, because sometimes we hope... I don't understand very well the English, so I lost some words and the meaning of the songs, and I think it's beautiful. And if I understand better the lyrics, maybe it's a more visual. I hope you can appreciate that. Well, my name is Jaime Diaz. I come from... I'm from Chile with my wife, Lorena, where I studied in ABC for seven months. I work in construction. Thank you, Mr. Hopker, for the opportunity to be here. And thank you, you, brothers, for the opportunity to try to explain our message for you, because it's our training for you, for you here, and for us, for our English. So thank you for the opportunity to be here. Well, I have the same Bible, that's Claudio, the Linguist, two languages. So I want to start reading the Bible. I hope you follow the reading, because it's more easy for you if you read and hear me, that only hear me. So Matthew 26, chapter 26, Matthew 26, verse 36.

So I have the New King James Bible version. The title says, The Prior in the Garden, by the New King James version. And the Spanish says, In Get Some Money. So Jesus Christ's prior, went prior for Get Some Money. So verse 36. Then Jesus came with them to the place called Get Some Money, and said to the disciples, Sit here where I go and pray over there. And he took with him Peter and two brothers, and started. And he began to be sorrowful and did distress. So he started to, in this moment, Jesus felt really sorrow. In this moment, he spoke words for fill up the moment, because it's like a play of theater. No, he felt really sorrow, because he knew what happened in hours more in the next day. So in this moment, the salvation of the world is in a game, in his hands. So he felt the tension in this moment. So we can read this word in Hebrew, Hebrew 5, 7 through 9. The apostle Paul wrote about that in Hebrew 5 verse 7, who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up priors and supplications with vehemence, cries, and tears, and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and was here because of his godly fear. And the verse 8 says, Thought he was a son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he suffered. So he learned obedience. And you can read after the first night, I studied this part of the apostle Paul wrote for us. So we're continuing in the Matthew account. And in Matthew 26, in the next verse, it's 39. So he went a little father and fell on his face a prayer saying, when Jesus cried, I prayed. My soul is sorrowful or extremamente. I don't know this word in English, but it's excellently sorrow. So he felt a lot of sorrow. And even today, and it's day, this is chapter 39. Oh, my father. Yes, I read the story. I'm a little nervous. Then the verse 39 says, Oh, my father, if it's possible, let this cut pass from me.

But after saying, Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. So he asked for the for God, if possible, pass this cup, because in this moment he didn't want to take this cup or he didn't want to drink this cup. But after that says, Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. And two times more, he come back with the other disciples. And after that, come back to pray and repeat the same prayer. Come back again. And he found the sample asleep because it's overnight. Or maybe he's a lot of tired, but he come back and repeat the same words. Let this cup pass for me. But, but, I'll say, how say, but know my will, but your will. So in the verse, your will be done. Say Jesus Christ. So Jesus Christ didn't want to take this cup because he knows, he knows, he knows what happened. So what, for what reason, he didn't want to take this, this cup. I understand it. This cup has three, I study, he has three, three parts, three aspects for we can study. The first one we can learn in this cup he want, he didn't want to drink is the physical sacrifice, the physical torture and crucifixion and death. So is he, he, he didn't want to pass for that. Anyone like to, to feel, to feel this, this kind of thing. So the, the King David in Psalm, Psalm 22 prophesied this, this moment of Jesus Christ.

So in the birth seven seven So in the birth seven, he wrote the King David about his problem, but he prophesied the Jesus Christ torture, because he said, all those who see, who see me, right equal me, they shot, shot out the lid, they shake the head, sighing. He throws it, he throws it, throws it in the Lord, left him, rescued me, rescued him. Jesus, Jesus was a being, a perfect being, part, part of the God family. Be is next to their father, living in a perfect way. He didn't need to be a human. He didn't need to create the human, but he, he for, for his amazing mercy and goodness and certain, and he, he wants to share his way of being with us as he created the human being. So he don't, he didn't need with us before to create this plan. And in Philippians 2 and the verse, Philippians 2, verse 5, Philippians.

It says, let, let this mind be in you which was also, also Jesus, also in Christ Jesus, who being, who being in a from of God did not consider it, probably to be equal to God. But made himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant and coming in likeness, likeness of men, and being for, found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of the dead, even to, even the dead of the cross. So no dead, dead on the cross. So Jesus Christ knows, knows, knows, knew what happened in this, in this moment. So they don't want to pass for this because any person in the, in the without would might like to, to leave a, a punishment or, or, or, or pain. So the second, the second part of this cup Jesus Christ didn't want to, to take is because he needs to taking over the sins, the sins of the mankind and show himself like a sinner before his father. So they, they taking over the sin of the mankind and show himself like a sinner before his father. So Jesus Christ never seen, so he need to show like a sinner before the, the, the father and the, the, the sensation is very, when, when some people sin, the sensation is, is bad and he didn't want to feel that, but he needs to, for us, he needs to live this moment. So again, the King David wrote the Psalms 51, 51. I think so. Psalm 51.

When he understand the King David, he understand his sin, all his, his several sins after the, the, the prophet Nathan shows, show him, show him the sins. He wrote these Psalms. So the, in the verse one say, help mercy open me. So he felt really, really bad. In the verse two says, watch me. He feel dirty. Watch me. Watch me from my iniquity and cleanse from my sins. So he, the King David feel dirty and Jesus Christ knew that how failed some person that sin. So he, Jesus Christ didn't want to, to, to fill that, but him again, he need to, for us, not for him, he don't need the human beings, but he need, he want to, to share the perfect way how us, how, how is Jesus Christ. So you can read all these Psalms. Maybe you, when you, this is the email, the number 31, when you, when you sing the Psalms, you remember how Jesus Christ filled with our sins because he don't feel, don't sin with our sins. And he, he, well, you remember. Well, the third part of this cup is when he take all, he take the sins, the, the Godfather, he never is next to the sin. So he, he need to, to be separate to the Father because the Father don't like the sin, so he don't, don't live with, next to the sin. So he need to be separate for, for a moment, for three days and three nights. So in John, in John 1-1 is a famous scripture. It's the first game of the baseball, no? In the beginning, big inning. No, it's, I understand it's the, it's the, the first, if you make a chronological Bible, you need to put this, this verse first one, in the, the first, because it's, it's, the postural John is created by God, spoke about the, the relationship between God and the, and the world. How, how call it here? In the beginning was the world, and the world was with God. So Jesus Christ and the Father lived together from the beginning, from the, from ever. So when he knows, or he knew that he need to, to take, to, to be separate to the God, he feel sorrowful because he didn't want to take this God. He didn't want to be separate to the, the love of the Father.

So the, the relationship between Jesus Christ and, and, and the Father, we can read more about that, about that in, in the, in the same Gospel in John 17, in the verse 20 through 24. Verse 20. So, in the verse 22, you can read after that this, this, this couple of, but I, I prefer to read the, the essential part that I want to, to read. The, in the verse 22, in the middle of the verses, that they may be one, just ask, we are one. So Jesus Christ and God are one. So they are together, the, from the beginning, and they are one. So never separate, and he feels the same things. He, he, he has the same thoughts. They create this plan and they create the human, the human beings, the mankind. So they, they work together always, and they need to be separate. So Jesus Christ didn't want to feel that.

When, when we are away from someone, we miss him. And when you can not talk with him, you feel more missed, or you miss a lot. So for me, it's very hard when finish the, the some face of the tabernacle face, because usually we, we, after the face, we don't see the, don't see the, some people from a long period. Sometimes one year, six months, or for several years, because we change the seat of the face, and you create a relationship someone for seven years, and after you need to, to be separate, you feel a very sort of, they are together from the beginning, and they need to be separate. So you can't imagine the, the, the sorrowful that feels Jesus Christ. So in the, in the, again, the prophesy from the King David in the Psalm 22, you can read again, the Psalm 22. The King David has some problems, and he feel, he feel away from God, and he wrote the, this work. In the verse one, this says, my God, my God, why, why have you forsaken me? What, why are you so far from helping? So if you remember in, in the, in the Mark, the Gospel of Mark, Jesus Christ, say the same words and say, Eli Eli, Lava, Samarthami, and this is, this means the same word. So first, for his creation of God, the King David wrote this, this word because he feeling bad because maybe he has some sin or, or he feels some problem. He wrote these prophesied words, but he expressed how filled Jesus Christ in this moment because God take away for Jesus Christ, for fulfill the prophesied, and because God don't like to, to live next to the, the sin. So the, the King David wrote this word, and Jesus Christ, after that, lived this word, my father, my father, why have you forsaken me?

Regularly, we put the, our focus in the physical problems because we, we, we think first in, in, in our words, some importance of our personal sacrifice for, for stay here, because I, I take away my family, my relatives, maybe I speak about me. So my physical problems I put in the first place. I, I believe that Jesus Christ is for, for him is more important the third part of the cup, because the physical problems maybe is for a moment and maybe is, I don't know, but the, the second part to, to, to carry the sins, he feels dirty, but when he is take away from, from the Lord for the, the father, he not only, it's not only his problem, it's for the father, because the father has all the power for, for rescade Jesus Christ, but they need to, to wait, stay away, and they create a problem for him and for his father. So I think this is the, is the worst part of the, when he, he thought in this, in this moment in the, in the garden of the Jaximani, so he, he don't want to, to stay away from God, and he didn't want to, to, to God stay away from him, to don't create a, a hurt in, in other person. And we need to, we need to feel the same. We are the, the, the Passover is coming, I would say, Claudio, so we need to remember the Jesus Christ sacrifice. We need to remember maybe he, the problems he, he, or the, the physical sacrifice he made for us, and the, the sins he, he felt dirty for us, for our, our lives, our everything. I, I don't want to, to, to make a list of our sins, but anyone knows our sins, but we need to, to feel that, we need to feel is for our, for our, he need to stay away to the, to the God, his Father. So if we have the humility to bend our net and ask for, and ask him every day, forgiveness our sins, ask him that we do, we don't, we do not want to be away from the Father, love, the love of Jesus Christ can help us. So we only need to remember the, his sacrifice, and Jesus Christ help us, but we need to make our part too.
