Essential Qualities of the True Church of God

This message describes eight essential qualities of the true New Testament “Church of God” that Jesus Christ said He would build per Matthew 16:18. These essential qualities are as follows: (1) It is the body of believers who have received and are being led by God’s Holy Spirit; (2) It is a spiritual organism, not a humanly-created organization or corporation; (3) It bears the biblical name “Church of God”; (4) It strives to fulfill Christ’s commission to preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God to the world; (5) It strives to make disciples throughout the world and care for those disciples; (6) It loves and strives to obey God’s law --- including the seventh day Sabbath; (7) It continues to grow in spiritual knowledge and understanding as God opens our minds and hearts with new truth; and (8) Though striving for individual and collective spiritual perfection during this physical life, it humbly recognizes that it is not yet perfect, and therefore must continuously be in a humble state of repentance and growth during this physical life.
