James on Communication, Part 1

Being Swift to Hear

By nature we humans seek to be heard; often promoting our own thoughts, values and opinions above the values, thoughts and opinions of others; even sometimes above the things of God. In so doing we can be swift to do many things. We can be swift to show partiality and judge superficially. We can be swift to judge the actions and motives of others. And we can be equally swift to defend our own ideas and our actions when they are attacked. But God calls on you and I as Christians to do something that only His Spirit within us makes possible. In this first of a three part message from the book of James on Christian Communication, we explore some practical principles James teaches about being "Swift to Hear."

Tony Stith grew up in the Pacific Northwestern United States. He has been a member of the churches of God all of his life, attending the Boise, Idaho, Lewiston, Idaho and Spokane, Washington churches of God. After graduating college in Pasadena, CA in 1990, he and his wife Elizabeth moved to Minnesota, where they now live in Woodbury, a suburb just to the southeast of St. Paul. They attend the Twin Cities United Church of God congregation.
