John 5:17-47

In this study Mr. Smith concludes John chapter 5. He begins by referring back to the healing in the first part of John where Jesus told the man to take up his bed and walk with lead the Jewish leaders to ac cuss Jesus of breaking the Sabbath. In his reply to them Jesus gives a witness of who he is. He first speaks of his working and God he Father working and the Jews clearly saw by this that he was claiming equality with God. Jesus stakes the the role of judging mankind has been given to him and that he also has the power to raise the dead. Jesus then points to four witnesses that verify he is speaking the truth: God the Father, John the Baptist, his miracles, and the testimony of the prophets and finishes the chapter by saying Moses specifically wrote of Him.
