In this sermon leading up to the Passover Mr. Smith shows us that from the very beginning of human history God has always included mercy along with judgement. When God drove Adam and Eve out of the garden in Genesis 3 He included the promise of a savior in his statements. In Deuteronomy 30 God set before Israel blessings and cursings and told them to choose the blessings by obeying Him. And at this time as we prepare for the Passover we are told in I Corinthians 11 that if we will judge ourselves, we will not be judged but instead obtain God's mercy in our lives.
