Numbers 13-14

with PDF Notes

In Numbers 13, the people had asked Moses to send men to spy out the land of Canaan. Ten of these men would die for an unfaithful report; only Caleb and Joshua would bring a favorable report—showing their faith in God. In Numbers, chapter 14, after the 12 spies returned from spying out the land and gave a bad report, the people murmured against Moses and Aaron and made plans for returning to Egypt which stirred up God's anger against them. Moses interceded with God on their behalf. God relented in destroying them, but declared that that generation would not enter into the promised land, except for Caleb and Joshua. When Israel attempted to enter, they were defeated in battle by the Amalekites and the Canaanites.
