The receiving of the Holy Spirit at baptism pictures the death to the old person and the new life as a Christian that has been empowered with the Holy Spirit, which creates in each one a new heart and nature. Pentecost serves as a reminder that God grants His Holy Spirit to the first fruits of His spiritual harvest.
