In this sermon the relationship of Pentecost, the Tree of Life and the Holy Spirit is discussed. There is a focus on what is the Holy Spirit, what is it and what are its works and even though it is a gift it is conditional. A person must repent, exercise faith in the sacrifice of Christ, be baptized and receive the laying on of hands to receive the Holy Spirit. Scriptures that show how to maintain and increase the Holy Spirit are also noted. God’s ultimate goal is for every person to receive His life giving essence, the Holy Spirit---and be in His family and Kingdom.

Before his retirement in 2021, Dr. Donald Ward pastored churches in Texas and Louisiana, and taught at Ambassador Bible College in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has also served as chairman of the Council of Elders of the United Church of God. He holds a BS degree; a BA in theology; a MS degree; a doctor’s degree in education from East Texas State University; and has completed 18 hours of graduate theology from SMU.
