Purpose to show humanity must go through the same process of returning to God's ways. Having sorrow, regret, remorse and stopping doing things "wrong" is not sufficient. We must actually go back to the Tree of Life which is God's pure way of life. It is not enough to just be a reflection of the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil and "be good."
