Anciently Israel was called to assembly by the blowing of trumpets such as on Holy Days. The rams horn or shophar was blown to sound a warning whenever the Israelites were in eminent danger. Anciently the prophets sounded a "trumpet warning" from God to turn them away from their sinful ways. In modern times God sets His ministry as a watchman to warn His church. All would be wise to heed that "trumpet" warning pictured in type by the Feast of Trumpets.

William Vernich

Bill Vernich was an elder who served the United Church of God congregations in Nashville and Jackson, TN as well as Bowling Green, KY. He was a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) with a B.S. in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing and Merchandising. He and his wife Carol have five children and eight grandchildren. They were baptized in 1972 and he was ordained an elder in 1984.
