Coming into work each day I pass a rock inscribed with an important message.
[Darris McNeely] Every morning when I come into the building here at our Home Office to go to work, I pass this rock with this plaque on it. It says, "The Word of God is the foundation of knowledge." This is the slogan that we have adopted for the Ambassador Bible Center, which is also taught here in our Home Office. The Ambassador Bible Center is a nine month course of instruction that takes students who attend through a complete study and survey of all of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. And it's a unique institution with a unique purpose all rooted on what this particular slogan says, "The Word of God is the foundation of knowledge," - a very important baseline for every one of us to consider in our own lives.
[Steve Myers] I think it is. It's something that - what are you going to base your life on? What is your foundation? Is the Word of God your foundation? You can base your life on all kinds of different things, but when it really comes to something spiritual, and something that's important, something that's worthwhile and something lasting, it better be on the Word of God because it is the rock.
[Darris McNeely] And what this slogan is saying - it's not saying that the Bible contains all knowledge, but that the Bible, the Word of God, is the foundation of knowledge. There are many, many other areas and sources by which we can acquire knowledge about this world, our physical universe, but the foundation of all knowledge must be rooted in the Word of God to be able to understand all the other knowledge that one acquires. And there is no contradiction when you take it and approach it from that perspective.
[Steve Myers] In fact, when you begin to think about it there's an important passage that recognizes that fact over in Psalms 119:105 because if we're going to have a foundation and we're going to base it on the spiritual Word of God, Psalms 119:105 puts it right to the point. And it says, "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." So you talk about a foundation, where we're going to base our walk in life. It better be on the Word of God because then we'll have a true foundation. And so Psalms 119 is very important in that regard when it talks about the foundation of the Word of God.
[Darris McNeely] Sometimes when I walk into the building to go to work I'm a bit distracted and I don't always see this and think about the words on this rock and oftentimes I do. But for all of us every day of our lives we should be basing our life, our thoughts, our whole approach on the Word of God. It is a sure way to success.
[Steve Myers] That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
