How to Discern the Antichrist

How do you tell the difference between a false prophet and the true servant of God in the time of the end?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] We received a note from one of our viewers, Katelyn writes, "I've just finished watching the Beyond Today program 'Who Is the Antichrist?' and I have a question in regards to recognizing who the Antichrist is." Important question that she writes. She said, "Should we consider anyone who does miracles to be false prophets or is God going to perform miracles like these?" So, when we get to the end on that program we talked about that. And so Katelyn wrote, "Should we just assume that all signs except Jesus' second coming are being done by false prophets or deceivers?" That's a very good question, isn't it Darris?

[Darris McNeely] I think it is. The real question is how do you tell a false prophet from a true servant of God?

[Steve Myers] That's what it gets down to. And when you look at the end time, we just finished a program on the two witnesses, God's ministers are going to do some phenomenal miracles. So, there's going to be fire coming down from heaven from false prophets.

[Darris McNeely] And the rain is going to be withheld from the heavens during that period as well.

[Steve Myers] So how do you know the difference?

[Darris McNeely] The difference, I think, comes from the scripture back in Deuteronomy, Steve, that says anyone who comes speaking in the name of the God of heaven should be pointing people to the word of God and to the law of God and to the commandments of God (Deuteronomy 13:1-4).

[Steve Myers] That's right.

[Darris McNeely] And any other standard shows that they're not of God.

[Steve Myers] You want to tell the difference? Are they teaching the commandments of God? Are they teaching the truth of God? Are they pointing to themselves or are they pointing to God? That's going to be the key. The key is their focus and if they don't speak to the law and the prophets, the scripture says there is no light in them. So the answer? You can tell the difference.

[Darris McNeely] But look to God, look to His law, and don't look to miracles as a sign of faith or positive, ultimate truth.

[Steve Myers] Yeah, and if you don't know the commandments, we've got so many links on this page that you're looking at that you can find out what are the commandments of God. What does your Bible really teach? What does God say about how to truly worship Him? So check it out, look around the page. Hopefully you'll click around and look at some of the literature we've got to offer as well. In fact, if you'd like to, we'd love to hear some questions from you as well. So right down here on this page you can click and ask your own question and perhaps we'll be able to answer it right here on BT Daily. So that's it for now. We'll see you next time.
