Rising tensions in Iran are another reminder that the world is unstable—but Jesus warned storms would come. The real question isn’t how strong the storm becomes, but whether your life is built on the foundation of actually doing what Christ taught.
[Steve Myers] Once again, your phone lights up with the headlines about Iran. Missiles, escalation, threats are intensifying. In the Middle East, it feels like a storm that's building on the horizon.
Now, here's something about storms. You don't panic at the first dark cloud. But you better not ignore it, either. You watch. You prepare. You secure what matters. Spiritually, that's exactly what Jesus told us to do. Matthew 7:24 He said, "Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."
Did you notice what Jesus did not say? He didn't say storms wouldn't come. He didn't say the rain would stop. He didn't say the winds would calm down. He said the house would stand. Why? Because it was built on the rock.
Now if we bring that forward, escalation involving Iran is not the first storm we've seen. And it won't be the last. But it's another reminder that the winds are increasing.
Now here's the real question. Is your life built to stand? You see, storms don't create foundation problems. They reveal them. If your spiritual life is shallow, pressure exposes it. If it's neglected, instability magnifies it. And if it's casual, those tensions shake it. But if it's anchored, it stands. And that's where this becomes so very personal.
Some of you watching already see it in Scripture. You see that Jesus kept the Sabbath. You see that He observed the Passover and the Holy Days. You know that the early church continued in those practices. God's church today continues to keep them. It's not unclear. It's not hidden. It's right there. But seeing it and submitting to it, they're not the same thing.
Jesus didn't say, blessed are those who understand my teachings. No, Matthew 7:24, He said, "whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them", does them. You see, storm seasons expose whether we're spectators of truth or builders on truth.
So if Christ kept the Sabbath and you know it, what are you waiting for? If He modeled obedience and you see it, what is it that's holding you back? Convenience? Schedule? Comfort?
You see, storms have a way of washing away excuses because when winds increase, you can't negotiate with the forecast. You better secure the foundation. Paul wrote in Acts 17:30, truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. He said commands, not suggest commands.
Escalation in Iran is not just a geopolitical movement. It's another reminder that the world, it is totally unstable. And instability is actually a mercy because it reminds us not to anchor our lives to temporary things.
So the question is not how strong the storm becomes. The real question is this. Have you decided what you will do with the truth you already know? Not admired truth, not studied truth, not agreed with truth, but action, acting on truth.
Because here's where it's heading. Revelation 11:15 reminds us "the kingdoms of this world, they will become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever." And that kingdom, that's not just theoretical. It is certain. And when Christ returns, neutrality will not be an option.
No one will wish they had analyzed more headlines. You'll wish you had obeyed more fully. So this is not just a call to panic. It's a call to decide. Build your life on what Christ actually taught. Keep what He kept. Do what He said. Anchor your life in obedience, not intention. No doubt, the storms are building. And when the winds rise, only what's founded on the rock will stand.
So don't wait for clear skies. Build now. Decide now. Stand now. And when the storm passes, and it will, you'll still be standing. Standing with Christ.
In these pages we examine the fruits Jesus and His apostles said would identify His Church. We look at the contrasting fruits that identify those who are influenced by a different spirit and preach a different gospel. We will learn, not from human tradition or opinion but directly from God's Word, how we can distinguish "the church of the living God" (1 Timothy 3:15) from those who follow "false prophets" in sheep's clothing.
