Is the Bible Pro-Slavery?

If God is all good, why didn’t He abolish slavery? Why did He merely tell His people, the Israelites, how they should treat their slaves, rather than telling them not to have slaves in the first place? Questions like these have led many people to conclude that maybe God doesn’t have a problem with slavery. However, when we read the Bible, we can see clearly that God abhors the institution of slavery — and even more than that, we can see that the entire story of the Bible, God’s master plan for all mankind, is a story of emancipation.
