Building God’s Temple: By His Spirit, Not Might or Power

Drawing from the commissions given to Zerubbabel and Joshua in Haggai 2:1-9 and Zechariah 3:7, this message explores the rebuilding of the temple in 538 BC and its prophetic significance for God’s spiritual temple today. Zerubbabel faced discouragement in constructing the physical temple, while Joshua was tasked with restoring its service, both relying on God’s Spirit, as emphasized in Zechariah 4:6. Scriptures like 1 Corinthians 3:9-17 and 1 Peter 2:4-5 reveal believers as living stones in God’s eternal temple, fashioned through humility and obedience. The message highlights four duties from Joshua’s commission—walking in God’s ways, keeping His commands, judging His house, and overseeing His courts—as a guide for contributing to God’s work through His Spirit, not human strength.
