I Will Build My Church

Christ's disciples sometimes long for the power God's church once had. Yet Christ can work through a few, as He has with many. Nehemiah's leadership moved the Jews to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls and gates which paved the way for a new, but smaller temple. Nehemiah's work is a prequel to and type of Jesus' transcending declaration: "I will build My church," despite inherent human shortcomings. Christ's church is relatively small, but His work is powerful. Christ will grow His church and its power, for the zeal for His House has eaten Him up.
