As a central figure in Jewish history, if it can be proven that Abraham was justified by works, then Paul’s argument is dead on arrival. But, if Paul can demonstrate Abraham’s faith preceded his works, he establishes a faith grace connection to the promise and opens the door to uncircumcised Gentiles.
