In this continuing series on "The Covenants," the focus of this message is finding a "key" in the Scriptures to enable us to identify the "better promises" upon which the New Covenant was established. With the identifying element of those promises in mind, our understanding of the Scriptures can be opened up of the awesome greatness of the New Covenant and it's relevance in our lives.

Twelve Promises that are In, By or Through the Blood of Jesus Christ

The Promise of Remission of Sin

 

Matt. 26:28 “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sin.

The Promise of Justification

 

Rom. 5:9 “Much more then, having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

The Promise of Forgiveness

 

Col. 1:13-14 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

The Promise of Sanctification

 

Heb. 10:29 “…the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified…”

Heb. 13:12 “…Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.”

The Promises of Cleansing, Washing & Purging

 

1 John 1:7 “…the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.”

Rev. 1:5 “…To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.”

Heb. 9:14 “…the blood of Christ…purge your conscience from dead works to serve…God.”

The Promise of Communion

 

1 Cor. 10:16 “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? …”

The Promise of Propitiation

 

Rom. 3:24-25 “being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth to be a propitiation by His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness...”

The Promise of Peace

 

Col. 1:20 “…having made peace through the blood of His cross.”

The Promise of Redemption

 

Eph. 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to His grace.

Heb. 9:11-12 “…with His own blood He entered … having obtained eternal redemption.”

1 Pet. 1:18-21 “…redeemed…with the precious blood of Christ…”

The Promise of Reconciliation

 

Rom. 5:10 “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”

Col. 1:19-21 “For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.”

The Promise of Access into the Holiest of All

 

Heb. 10:19-20 “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest of All by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way …”

The Promise of Victory over the devil

 

Rev. 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb…”
