Understanding Real Eternal Judgement

This is the final message in the Hebrews 6:1-2 series. This message covers the unique understanding God has revealed that everyone will stand in judgement before Christ, but not all right now. There are three judgement periods, which will give everyone a fair opportunity to choose either eternal life or eternal death.

okay So you will uh recall I've been doing this series on Hebrews 6:es 1 and 2 And there's only one message remaining We've talked about faith We've talked about repentance We've talked about baptism We've talked about the laying on of hands We've talked about the resurrections But there's one last thing that is that that is a separate and distinct doctrine that is identified by the author of Hebrews Let's read that together here in Hebrews chapter 6 again verses 1 and two But this will wrap up this series It says "Therefore leaving the
discussion of the elementary principles of Christ let us go on to perfection not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works of faith toward God of the doctrine of baptisms of laying on of hands of resurrection of dead of the dead and of eternal judgment The reason that this is listed separately is because it is a separate and distinct doctrine that makes the truth of God as revealed to his people the church unique in all the world The understanding that eternal judgment is real that judgment itself is
real If you look at if you look at Christianity today modern you know let's just call it modern Protestant uh theology about this It's fundamentally a once-s saved always saved idea You proclaim I believe in Jesus and you accept the Lord into your heart and therefore you are saved forever eternally Where is judgment in that there is no judgment in that because your sins would be forgiven and there's there's no penalty then for those those sins ever And is that what God teaches it's really important that we understand that
that there is an actual judgment that God has for everyone No exceptions Everyone will sit under judgment but in the right order Very important that we understand this order that God has set in place Here's one of the things that I want us to make sure that we start off remembering though This eternal judgment should not invoke fear especially for those of us who walk in faith But it should inspire a deep sense of urgency in us We're under judgment Every person will be under judgment in their right time Every person will face this
judgment whatever their appointed time is And in the end there will only be two outcomes Eternal life or eternal death That's it That is the whole summation of God's plan to either bring human beings into eternal life or into eternal death There's no middle ground no second path and no alternative ending That's it Let's begin with who the judge is and what the standard is that's used in judgment Judgment is only as just as the judge who carries it out I feel like we've seen some of that recently where judges may not be
entirely judging fairly certain kinds of things And it has been somewhat baffling and it kind of makes this point more real to me It's only as just as the judge who carries it out And Jesus Christ thank God let's turn over here in John chapter 5 is the perfect judge John chapter 5 and verse 22 where it states emphatically for the father this is Christ's own words for the father judges no one but has committed all judgment to the son So Jesus Christ sits as the judge not the father So we are being judged by Christ himself the perfect judge That's
a profound truth For those who tend to think that once saved always saved there's a judgment by a judge And that judge here is Jesus Christ What's I think most comforting about that is the one who sits in judgment over human beings walked this earth himself He knows exactly what we've gone through because he lived and went through and endured just as we have and do go through things and endure Now over in Hebrews chapter 4 Hebrews chapter 4 verse 15 we are reminded where it says "For we do not have a high priest who cannot
sympathize with our weaknesses but was in all points tempted as we are yet without sin." So Christ was tempted He was on this earth walked you know he had hunger pains and he probably stubbed his toe a few times maybe hit his thumb with a hammer I don't know Can you picture Christ not being perfect with a tool it's kind of hard Do you think he ever hit his thumb with a hammer it's like probably but maybe not You know he's Christ Uh but you got to think about the fact that he says that he was tempted in all points in matters
the same way that we are and yet he was sinless Well that's kind of a high bar for us but it's relieving to know that he did in fact walk this walk and he sits in judgment over us so that he can judge us righteously He is a righteous judge He's not going to be deceived by outward appearances You know it's so easy for human beings to manipulate other human beings when they truly want to You know the judges of our courts today are just they're not invulnerable to that Christ is you know I I've mentioned this before
but think about the the role that we play as first fruits in the millennium Who is going to be able to say to us that something is so unique and so different about their walk during the millennial period that we just wouldn't understand somehow or that they might be able to manipulate or control us somehow We've lived this when it was very hard to live this way of life and we've overcome Christ more so than us Look over here in Revelation chapter 2 and verse 23 to notice something about what is said here Let me just read
Revelation 2 vers 23 I will kill her children with death and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts and I will give to each one of you according to your works And so you know as we stand before as every human being who will ever live will stand before that judge That judge doesn't just look at our outward appearances He's looking at what we think do and believe It's it's it's who we are inside that he's judging So in other words people are still going to make mistakes It isn't about whether or not
you make a mistake It's about repentance and and that's a matter of the heart And Christ will be able to see and read and judge that very heart But this raises an important question By what standard will Christ judge the world because unlike human courts which often change their laws or apply them inconsistently God's judgment is based on an unchanging standard The Bible reveals that Christ will use two primary sources The books and the book of life Revelation 20 and verse 12 Revelation 20 and verse 12 It says
"And I saw the dead small and great standing before God and books were opened and another book was opened." Now we know these aren't the same book because one set is the source of judgment The other is who's being judged Another book was opened which is the book of life And the dead were judged according to their works by what by the things which were written in the books That's the Bible The same standard that you and I are going to be judged by is the same standard that those in the millennium will be judged by and those in the
second resurrection will be judged by It'll always be the same standard It is the word of God And so of course God gives us his Bible That Bible is going to be the document by which everyone lives into the millennium and beyond And of course that then becomes the standard by which everyone will be judged And that's very important for us to know and to understand that that is not going to change God does not change Those who claim to follow Christ must live according to his teachings because it is his words that will be the basis for
judgment John 12 John 12 and verse 48 Verse 48 says "He who rejects me and does not receive my words has that which judges him The word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." Now this is the very being who inspired the writing of the Old Testament scriptures And so it is the same being who's saying the words of old and the words of today the words of Christ the words of God is the basis of all judgment That means that no one's going to be able to plead ignorance No one who's actually in their judgment period
will be able to proclaim innocence because it is during their judgment period that the truth will be revealed to them They will have a chance to choose to follow a chance to know and to fully understand Again God is not capriccious He's not unfair He's not going to be giving some people some of the information and judging other people who don't have that information by the same rules Everyone gets all the information when they're under judgment And that is the word of God And of course the second source used
in judgment is the book of life This is the record of those who will inherit eternal life Throughout scripture it's clear that having one's name written in the book of life is the most important thing a person can achieve To be written in it means to be counted among those who will live forever in God's kingdom That's why this document is so important Philippians chapter 4 and verse three So that we see that this is important Philippians chapter 4 and verse 3 where Paul says "And I urge you also true companion help these women who
labored with me in the gospel with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers whose names are in the book of life." It's not some arbitrary list It's not determined by human opinion or religious affiliation or any other thing It's determined by God who is written in this book It's reserved for those who have genuinely followed God who remain faithful and endure to the end during their judgment period However the Bible does warn us that names can be removed from this book if a person turns away from God So you
have to have your name in the book to have salvation Can you have your name removed from the book yes you can Revelation 3 and verse 5 Here is one of the letters to the churches Revelation 3 and verse 5 It says "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments and I will not blot out his name from the book of life but I will confess his name before my father and before his angels.
" you know blot out You youngans ain't going to know that I don't think you would know this I'm like they're not still teaching typing in school are they no So when I was in school you took typing class And at the very first of that I was I got to think I was in junior I think I was in junior high school or or like seventh grade maybe I think it was in Shamway I'm trying to remember That's a long time ago Anyway I remember sitting in this class and the old typewriters you've seen these in old movies right and they're like these
individual little keys and you have to push them down and they go down like this far Okay Well what if you make a mistake so you're like it's ink It slams your your letter slams against an ink ribbon onto white paper I'm explaining it to the young ones Okay And so it it it makes a mark It's an ink mark right okay Well what if you type wrong which you know happens I bet you're not perfect either So it happens You're going to make a mistake Well what happens when you make a mistake you want to correct that Well if it's an
assignment you have to correct it And so what do you do well they had this thing called white out and you dip the stuff in there and you carefully get it in there and you wipe that letter and then you let it you blow on it cuz it's quick drying You blow on it and then it dries and then you and then you back it up and then you hit the correct character Okay that's blotting out a character This is saying the same thing We don't want our name blotted out We're not like that We don't want God wiping our name But
that's literally what this is saying I can write your name in and I can erase your name from this book only I'm guessing that when God does it there's no mark left like that's it If he takes your name out that's it and that's not a good thing So that reveals something very sober we need to be thinking very carefully about that just because our name is written in the book of life doesn't mean it can't be removed Judgment will confirm who remains in the book and who does not But whoever is found in the book of life as we read here in Revelation
chapter 20 and verse1 15 Revelation 20 and verse 15 says "And anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." So this is this book reveals that there's only two outcomes to salvation Either you are in the book of life and therefore are going to be an eternal being in the family of God or your name has been blotted out and you are going to be in the lake of fire That's it No other choices There's no middle ground There's no temporary dwelling places There's no timeouts That's it So that's really
important for us to understand that the the implications are very significant No appeal no second chance once the final verdict is given And that's why we're urged to seek God now Right now 2 Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 10 2 Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done whether good or bad We'll get a little bit more into that as we get a fuller understanding that there are this is not the only day
of judgment It is a day of judgment and some are under judgment today So we want to understand that there are actually three judgment periods And no matter which judgment period we're in the standard is the same and the judge is the same Jesus Christ is going to judge us based on his word the holy scriptures All right Three judgment periods Judgment is not a single event that happens to everyone at the same time And that's commonly what's believed amongst mainstream Christianity today That this is the day of judgment for
everyone That this life right now the life you've lived is it And whatever the result is that happens now But that is not in fact what the Bible reveals to us The Bible reveals that God's judgment unfolds in three stages or three separate periods And these are at three different points in time And the outcome for each of these is the same Turn with me over to 1 Peter 4 and verse 17 where we see that the church today is under judgment 1 Peter 4 and verse 17 Now remember this is Peter in the first epistle that he writes He believes
that Christ is going to return in his lifetime What he writes then is important because he's using the collective we and he's describing what he thinks is going to happen to him along with everybody else that's alive when Christ returns And so he says here in verse 17 for the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God And if it begins with us first Peter is a first fruit We are first fruits if we are in God's church baptized and being led by the Holy Spirit We are in God's church We are a part of the us that Peter's
talking about And if it begins with us what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God we are under judgment right now This is the first period of judgment It is when the first fruits of God are under judgment Revelation chapter 20 and verse 6 You may want to just keep a marker there We come back to it frequently enough as in explaining these things so that they are very clear Revelation 20 and verse 6 says "Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection Over such the second death has no power
But they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years." So the judgment isn't about condemnation This is what's really beautiful if you really think about the judgment that we're under Yes God wants to know because there's going to be a determination Is our names going to be written in the book of life and as first fruits that means that our place will be taken at the return of Jesus Christ We will be kings and priests serving in the first resurrection under Jesus Christ Christ isn't judging us so that he
can I don't know rofully cheer getting us out like he's not looking forward to condemning us He's trying to give us an opportunity to make the right choice in life a durable right choice based on his word based on the word of God based on the scriptures and how we are to live according to the books that lead to life So God calls us to endure trials Why to develop righteous character I've I'm working on this Bible study that's going to be coming up here next week And it's kind of been this has been really fun because it talks about
I'm I'm going through this very issue here of uh building righteous character what it means Anyway I don't want to give it away I'm not giving it away I was about to You have to tune in That's the whole point You have to tune in It's Wednesday night at 7 o'clock Look for the link in your in your uh in your uh bulletin All right We have to remain steadfast in faith but Jesus Christ is giving us an opportunity It's not just like you know thankfully it's not first of all it's not a scale where you see on the left hand or
on the right hand whichever way you look at the scale here's all your good deeds and here's all your bad deeds And let's just make sure you do enough good deeds outweigh your bad deeds so that you can have eternal life God doesn't judge that way He judges based on the heart You can make mistakes You're going to make mistakes The question is where is your heart in that process if you truly desire to be right with God then you're going to be trying to overcome those mistakes and not repeat them It doesn't mean you won't repeat them It means
you're trying not to repeat them And maybe if you've done this for 60 or 70 years you get pretty good at not doing all the wrong stuff anymore And maybe if you if you had God's Holy Spirit and were made of spirit maybe then for eternity you wouldn't be making any of those mistakes ever again So here we are under judgment based on these same books that everyone will sit under judgment as well with the second judgment period So we in the church are in the first judgment period right now under judgment on how we live according
to the word of God The second judgment period are those alive during the millennium because when Christ returns there's a resurrection and every first fruit alive or dead in Christ is resurrected to become eternal spirit beings kings and priests with Jesus Christ ruling and reigning and establishing the government of God on this earth through the millennium So it's important for us to understand there are going to be those who live through all of the horrible events of the end time that 3 and 1/2 year period which represents
both the tribulation which is three and a half years long the the wrath of God called the day of the Lord which is one year long and it culminates in the final year of the tribulation Human beings are going to be going through things we can't picture I mean we see them in movies I suppose if you could imagine living through some of the things that are portrayed in some movies I guess but I don't even think that comes close to what it'll actually be like And yet human beings are going to live through that They're going to be human beings
alive during the millennium who come through this horrendous world We're going to be there for them and we're going to begin rebuilding this world with them and teaching them God's way of life They're going to be under judgment because remember the day of atonement pictures Satan being put away His influence will be removed He's the God of this world right now but he will be removed deposed by Jesus Christ when he returns He won't be the God of this world anymore Jesus Christ will be the God of this world and he will rule
righteously and he's going to be teaching God's way of life throughout the entire earth Now that's not instant Gog and Magog helps us to understand that it's not going to be instant It'll be a progression But God is going to be teaching and judging He's going to remove the blinders People will finally be able to see and to know and to choose the truth without being blinded They'll be able to know the truth for the first time in their lives Those alive when Christ returns So they will be under judgment during the millennium That is a
judgment period Isaiah chapter 2 Isaiah chapter 2:es 2 and 3 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days so now we know we're talking about the end time that the mountain of the Lord's house mountain means government or kingdom the mountain of the Lord's house this is God's government shall be established on the top of the mountains It will be the top mountain and shall be exalted above the hills These are smaller governments and all nations shall flow to it Many people shall come and say "Come let us go up to the mountain of
the Lord to the house of the God of Jacob He will teach us his ways and we shall walk in his paths For out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." This will be a great time of restoration of healing of God rebuilding of the world being repopulated of it recovering from the devastation of the tribulation and the and the wrath of God which happens before Christ returns The world's going to be taught God's way without interference from Satan who's going to be bound during this millennial
period which gives people the chance to choose righteousness and to submit to Jesus Christ's rule Over in Zechariah we have a prophecy Again another prophecy Zechariah chapter 14 verses 16-1 17 So Zechariah 14:16 and 17 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King the Lord of Hosts and to keep the feast of tabernacles And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King the Lord
of Hosts on them there will be no rain What is that what is that telling us judgment I'm going to put before them choices Come up and worship celebrate and keep the holy days If you choose not to step one we withhold the reigns Escalating punishments God is not different Same blessings and cursings were given to Israel If you will obey here's the blessings and they are bountiful If you don't these are the punishments that I will inflict on you to wake you up it's going to be my way or the highway Quite literally no one is going to be able to
do things their own way They still have free will That's what this means People have free will That's why God says "But so if you choose not to come up consequences that's judgment." The third period after the millennium the final period of judgment occurs after the second resurrection at the end of the thousand-year reign of Jesus Christ This is known as the great white throne judgment because all who have ever lived but never truly known God are going to be resurrected and given their opportunity then finally
No deception no false You know Satan is you know Satan is loosed and he goes about to try to deceive But God is now established Eden on earth People are going to be able to see and to see a difference Here's God's way It's been running for a thousand years and there's peace and harmony on this earth Satan is loosed People are resurrected Every human being who's never heard the name of Jesus Christ or God is going to have this chance to see two ways of life and to choose Remember the people who come into the millennium this is an
interesting thing to to contemplate The people who go into the millennium have come out of this world They've lived this same world under Satan's deception and they know what it looked like They know how it ran They have a choice They'll see it when God removes the blinders So that's what's beautiful about it God removes the blinders and now they can see in the millennial period Oh we saw how Satan ran things Not very good And we see how God's running things much better So it's an obvious choice for them But what
about after that all these human beings are going to come up and have an opportunity now to see these two ways of life the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil Evil sort of right before them in God's beautiful Eden here recreated on this earth and Satan who wants to destroy it again You know when he comes back out you think he's going to be happy i think he's going to be looking forward to trying to destroy God's plan once again Revelation 20 11 and 12 just reminds us that this is a judgment period the third judgment
period Revelation 20 11 and 12 Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat on it from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away and there was found no place for them And I saw the dead small and great standing before God and the books were opened And another book was opened which is the book of life And the dead were judged according to their works by the things which were written in the books And so we see that that's this period that's being talked about now the second resurrection All of mankind getting their chance to
choose It's going to be a time of learning It's going to be a time of testing Ezekiel 37 Ezekiel 37 13 and 14 Verse 13 he says "Then you shall know that I am the Lord When I have opened your graves oh my people and brought you up from your graves I will put my spirit in you and you shall live and I will place you in your own land Then you shall know that I the Lord have spoken it and have performed it says the Lord.
" So again this final judgment will give everyone else who's ever lived the opportunity to know the truth and to choose eternal life But it's also a period of accountability because those who reject God will have their names removed from the book of life So they either won't be entered in or if they are they'll be removed because the choice is the same for all of us Every human being is going to have the same choice salvation and eternal life or the lake of fire and eternal death That's the choice that everyone will have to make because after
that back to Revelation 20 it's after that we read here in verse 14 and 15 of Revelation 20 then death in Hades So what's what goes on before this verse 13 says this remember the sea gave up the dead who were in it and death and hades were delivered up to the dead or delivered up the dead who were in them and of course they were judged each one according to his works meaning they're going to be judged for some period of time Then after that death in Hades were cast into the lake of fire This is the second death That's the resurrection we don't
want to be in that leads to the second death So these three periods of judgment reveal God's fairness and mercy because he does not judge people unfairly and he doesn't condemn them without giving them an opportunity to choose Those who are judged now are being prepared to rule with Jesus Christ Those who will live into the millennium will experience a world of righteousness and be judged based on their response to it And those resurrected in the final judgment will at last have the chance to know God and choose his way of life over
Satan So for everyone judgment is not about condemnation It's God's effort in every way possible to get many sons to glory to bring many to glory That's what God wants He's not some evil wicked God who can't wait to exclude as many as possible for a narrow few people He wants everyone to be in his kingdom in his family but everyone has to make a choice Now let's talk about the second death the permanent result of rejecting God The Bible presents a unique and sobering reality regarding the final fate of those who reject God If you've
if you know anything about what modern Christian religions in particular but not just them I mean if you look at kind of the pantheon of what religions to preach out there it's very different than what God says We don't live on forever in punishment or in some flaming death Romans chapter 6 and verse 23 tells us very simply a truth Romans chapter 6 verse 23 Most of you are probably familiar with this For the wages of sin is death It's not life being tortured It's not life in solitude It's not life in any circumstances It's
death That's the wages of sin It's very handy when we have very clear statements like that Because this shows that death is not eternal suffering It's the opposite of life It's the non-existence of life anymore That's what death is And of course in this context we know that this is eternal death By the way the wages of sin is eternal death Why do how do we know that because it says the gift of God is eternal life So the context is eternity And we read back in Revelation 20 14 and 15 that this is very different than what
the world believes because it remember it said then death of course this assumes that the soul is inherently immortal So they don't process the scripture correctly do they if nephesh our soul is physical then it dies as the scripture says the wages of sin is death But if you have an immortal soul if you declare that to be true then you can't find permanent death in an immortal soul So you have to find an alternative explanation which is what they attempt to do By the way that idea originated not from the Bible but from ancient Greek
philosophy But the Bible does not support the idea of an immortal soul apart from God's gift of eternal life Ezekiel 18:4 Ezekiel 18 and verse4 Behold all souls are mine The soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine And the soul that sins shall die That soul that sins is not going to live eternally in some flaming bunker It's not going to be tortured and tormented He's not going to be in some kind of isolation alive Somehow the soul that sins will die Very clear understanding Very clear statement So this immortal soul idea is
very very antithetical to what the scripture says Instead the Bible teaches that the soul can die It's not an everlasting entity Hinduism and Buddhaism teach a very different approach They teach the idea of reincarnation that souls are repeatedly reborn into new forms based on their actions in previous lives In these belief systems judgment is not final but an ongoing process where a person moves up or down in the cycle of existence The ultimate goal is to reach a higher spiritual state such as moka in Hinduism or nirvana in
Buddhism where the soul enter or either emerges let me say that again where the soul I'm reading here quoting here where the soul merges with the divine or ceases to experience individual consciousness We become part of sort of some sort of spiritual soup That's their idea And uh anyway I'll leave that alone I want to joke so badly about that but I'm just going to let that go Islam teaches a view very similar to traditional Christianity with a heaven and a hell where people are rewarded or punished eternally Despite these varying beliefs
none align with what the Bible actually teaches That the wicked will not live forever in any form but will be completely destroyed That is unique That knowledge is unique in this world It comes only from God Malachi chapter 4 Malachi 4:es 1-3 Verse one For behold the day is coming burning like an oven and all the proud yes all who do wickedly will be stubble and the day which is coming shall burn them up says the Lord of hosts that will leave them neither root nor branch I mean that you can't have a more uh clear
description of something that is utterly dead destroyed and can never grow again That's what that's describing Verse two says "But to you who fear my name the son of righteousness shall arise with healing in his wings and you shall not and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves You shall trample the wicked for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet.
" That's not a picture of people alive in torment That's a p those people are gone Ashes is ashes I have a grill full of them and a fire pit full of ashes There's no life in them This is the permanent result of rejecting God's offer of eternal life God's judgment is not cruel or unjust He is patient giving every person an opportunity to choose life But in the end a choice must be made Those who submit to God's way will inherit eternal life while those who reject him will receive the consequences of their choice which is only one consequence permanent
eternal destruction That's the choice everyone faces And you know God is not on the sidelines as though he's not rooting in one way or another Because just like he said to Israel ancient Israel when he gave them the the promises of obedience and the curses for disobedience he didn't just say "Now whatever you choose is fine.
" God is rooting for one outcome Deuteronomy 30 and:e 19 he tells us what he's rooting for Deuteronomy chapter 30 and verse 19 I call heaven and earth as witness today against you that I have set before you life and death blessing and cursing Therefore choose life that both you and your descendants may live That's what God wants He wanted that for ancient Israel as his people on this earth And he wants that from his people now He wants that for everyone Choose life But he's not going to force anyone to obey It has to be free will choice You think God wants to live
eternity with somebody who was made to be there who doesn't want to be there that's Satan The end of the day that is Satan Satan's going to be destroyed We don't know how or what that looks like but he it's scripture says Satan is going to be destroyed We don't know what that means but God's not going to have him for all eternity torturing all of his saints who are now children of God I think this scripture in Oadiah addresses what God's going to do I I' I've often wondered how does a parent the most obvious question how does a parent who
has a disobedient child who ultimately refuses to obey how would that parent cope for eternity knowing that their child had chose not to be there had chose their way over God's way obadiah You probably don't turn to Obadiah a lot I read from Habacook Another book I don't think we spend a lot of time in Habacook do we oadia I turn to this book so often I have to go back to the beginning There it is I found it And start at the beginning kind of work my way until I find it Obadiah chapter 1 and verse 16 Technically speaking Oadiah is one book
It's like Jud So is it really chapter one i like saying chapter one because it's awkward Anyway verse 16 of Oadiah he says "For as you drank on my holy mountain so shall all the nations drink continually Yes they shall drink and swallow and they shall be as though they had never been." And I think that's what ultimately God will do I don't know that to be a fact but I think that's what this is talking about that God's not going to make us live for eternity with the with the memory of a loved one who's not there who will never be there
because we would have perfect memories I don't know that I want to be tortured for all eternity with the remembrance of a child who said "Nope don't want to be there." A loved one who can't be for all eternity with us in this eternal spiritual family That's an opinion I put it out there for you to consider I think that's what it means But it maybe it means something different Everything we've explored in this series has been building to this final reality that is eternal judgment It's the culmination of God's
plan The point at which all of humanity stands before him to receive either eternal life or eternal death This is not a theological debate or a distant possibility It is an absolute certainty The foundation laid in Hebrews chapter 6:es 1 and 2 brings us here to the ultimate moment when every person will face the consequences of their choices because everyone is going to be given a choice Not all at the same time God gives us the time that's right for us Those of us who are called today are under judgment right now And you don't
have an alternative choice There's no choice to be in a different resurrection It's either first fruit right now or lake of fire That's the choice When God calls the next which will be during the millennium and he gives them their opportunity you know what choice they have eternal life or the lake of fire And at the second resurrection when God brings every single human being who's never heard the name of Jesus Christ who's never had a choice who lived deceived brings them back to life and he gives them a chance to choose
What's the choice it's the same choice that we have that those in the millennium will have It is eternal life or the lake of fire And he gives us time to live under judgment to make that choice This is what the fundamental doctrines teach us from Hebrews 6:es 1 and 2 The entire plan of God laid out for us in these two scriptures They're a quick read but there's a lot said there that helps us to understand what God is doing on this earth with human beings that will ultimately lead at least how he has described it his hope is to bring many
