We all live on an ant hill. Getting that perspective is key to success.
[Darris McNeely] Solomon said, "Go to the ant, consider her ways, and be wise" in Proverbs 6:6. You know an ant and an ant hill and an ant colony is a pretty interesting subject to study. I know in places in Africa, ant hills actually get quite large and huge. Where I live, ant hills are usually rather small. And it provides something for us to consider in just looking at the overall picture of an ant and an ant hill because, from my perspective, when I look down on an ant hill, it's pretty small. And yet I have to sometimes realize that really my spot in this world and in this universe is really not much bigger than an ant hill.
I live on an ant hill. You live on an ant hill. And sometimes we forget that because we get very busy, we get active, we get centered upon our particular point in this world and it becomes all that we know sometimes. And sometimes it becomes an obsession and we lose total perspective. We lose the perspective that God has because we're on our ant hill.
What's your ant hill? Is it your life? Is it your family? Your ambition? Your business? Your school? Your church? What is it that is your life that just consumes you at times beyond the perspective of other people, other places, other regions, this entire world and really the bigger plan that God is bringing to pass throughout this universe.
We live on an ant hill of our own making at times. And we'll struggle on that; we'll have our successes, we'll have our failures. But if that's all we see, then we lose the perspective that God has given to us.
God sometimes I think must look down on us and see us, in a sense, like a colony of ants running around on an ant hill. He has a different perspective as He's working with us to bring about His purpose and His plan. And it's that perspective that we need to keep in mind as we go about life on our ant hill.
We need to stop. We need to listen to other people. We need to stop and listen for the still, small voice of God at times and get our perspective a periodic check. When we can do that, then we're going to have a better life on our ant hill and it's going to be one that has the perspective of God and His great plan. And it's going to keep us from a lot of problems and a lot of trouble.
So consider your ways, consider that of an ant and let's all seek for more wisdom. That's live from the ant hill.
