Several years ago country singer and songwriter Clint Black recorded an insightful song that he titled "Something That We Do." The lyrics apparently stem from his own experience of staying married to his wife for more than 30 years now.
Love isn't something we find.
Love isn't something that we have.
Love's not just something that we're in.
Love isn't someplace that we fall.
All of these phrases are followed by the real truth: Love is something that we do.
In other words, real love is a choice—a choice to act in a certain way. Real love is much more than just a feeling. Real love requires effort, time and personal commitment. Real love takes work—sometimes lots of it. But the rewards are well worth it!
