United Youth Camps 2021

Wamatochick

June 27, 2021 - 12:00am EDT to July 04, 2021 - 12:00am EDT

Hye Sierra has been changed for 2021.

Camp Wamatochick (Wa-Ma-TOE-Chick) is a beautiful 80-acre camp nestled in the pine forests a short distance outside of Prescott, Arizona. An alternate facility for the southwest region for 2021, we are very much looking forward to having camp among the pines, and gathering together as brothers and sisters in the Zone. The Camps remote location allows us to get away from the world for a time, and to reflect upon and focus ourselves on living God's way in this modern age. See uyc.ucg.org for more information or to apply. NOTE: If you have already applied to Camp Hye Sierra and you can still attend Wamatochick (note the new location and date change), there is no further action required. If you now can no longer attend, please email asap uyc@ucg.org to let us know.

Our primary goal in the United Youth Camps program is to point our youth to their Creator. We begin each day with Compass Check, which directs our thoughts and attitudes toward godly values. As we carry out the day's activities, we put these principles into practice in ways that are designed to help us apply right values in everyday life. We end the day as a camp family, together by the crackling campfire, where we continue to build relationships, learn biblical principles, and have FUN!

Wamatochick means 'a place of friends' in the local Yavapai language, and at UYC we recognize the importance of building those lasting godly relationships with one another, so we build a lot of time into the schedule to allow opportunities for you to do just that. In addition to our open evening activities, mix and mingle time, as well as our two popular dances... we are excited to offer mountain biking, field sports, kayaking/paddle boarding, archery, dance, low ropes/challenge, and other exciting activities. To bring camp to a close, we conclude with the formal banquet and dance, which brings campers and staff together for a final evening of conversation, laughter and even some tears.

We will operate camp this year in accordance with state and local mandates relating to COVID-19. At the time of this writing, no masks or social distancing is required in the State of Arizona. We will operate camp in a responsible fashion, in accordance with state and local laws.

Make plans now to be at Camp Wamatochick this July! We'll see you there!

Staff Information:  We have many service opportunities for dedicated counselors and activity staff, as well as lifeguards, drivers, kitchen staff, dish crew, janitorial, those certified in lifesaving skills, and staffers experienced in other various UYC activities. All staff members must arrive on Friday, July 2 for staff training.

Transportation Arrival/Departure:  Camp Wamatochick is located about 10 minutes outside of Prescott, Arizona on Senator Highway. (Approximately 2 hours from Phoenix). For those flying into PHX, we will arrange free transportation to/from camp. Campers need to arrive at camp for registration on July 4th between 2-4 p.m. Camp ends at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 11th. All staff and camper departures should occur between 8-10 a.m. Please do not schedule any departure flights before 11 a.m. Prescott is served by a smaller regional airport that United and Boutique Air serves, so connecting flights from Phoenix are available if it works for you.
