Camp Woodland was once again filled with energy, fellowship and opportunities for spiritual growth as 62 campers and 51 staff members gathered for a memorable week in northwest Georgia.

Camp ran from Sunday through Saturday, giving campers a full week to participate in activities, build friendships and grow closer to God. This year brought two new activities to the camp schedule. In arts and crafts, campers spent the first two days glazing pottery pieces. The finished pieces were sent away to be fired and later returned to the campers, giving each one a special keepsake and memory of camp. Fishing was also introduced on the lake, providing campers with a new way to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Camp Woodland.

The activity schedule offered something for everyone, including basketball, volleyball, speedaway, ultimate frisbee, softball, high ropes and dance class. Campers also enjoyed two dances during the week, one on Monday night and another on Saturday night, creating additional opportunities for fun and fellowship.

The spiritual focus of the week centered on Christian living classes held Monday through Friday. Each day’s lesson was built around one of five phrases of Jesus Christ found in the Gospels: “Hear My Voice,” “Come to Me,” “Learn From Me,” “Love Me” and “You Follow Me.” The classes were engaging, practical and especially relevant in today’s world, where the biblical message can easily be drowned out by the constant noise of news, social media, influencers, entertainment and countless other distractions.

Overall, Camp Woodland was a tremendous success. Beyond the activities and memories, campers had the opportunity to build new friendships, learn valuable lessons and consider how they can better follow Jesus Christ in their everyday lives.
