Letter From Dan Preston

March 29, 2024

Good evening brethren and happy Sabbath!  I hope this amazing weather inspires you to get outside and enjoy the spring renewal God has sent for us once again this year.

The Importance of Support

The tragic events of early Tuesday morning have dominated the headlines this week.  At approximately 1:30 AM the cargo ship Dali lost power, and subsequently control, and coasted into one of the main supports of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD.

The bridge collapsed immediately and likely a half a dozen people fell to an untimely death.  This terrible tragedy illustrates a very literal need for support.

More than one kind of support

Of course, most of us aren't building bridges, and thus don't supply support in that way.  But we DO supply support in another, very important aspect.  Romans 12:15 tells us, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep."

This points to the need for emotional support for one another.  Each of us, is an important member of the body of Christ.  "For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ...For in fact the body is not one member but many" (1 Corinthians 12:12,14).

Thank you for your support

We as the body need to support one another.  During tough trials, and even during good times, we all need the support of one another.  Just like a bridge, you might not think a lot of it on a daily basis, but the moment it is removed, you understand exactly how critical it is.

Of course, I don't really need to tell any of you this.  Why?  Because from the outpouring of cards, calls, texts and meals we received this week during my wife's health trial, it is clear you all know how to support on another! On behalf of our entire family, thank you all for your support.  Not just this past week, but all year long!
