×Nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, beautiful Lake Junaluska is a relaxing and quiet respite in our busy world (www.lakejunaluska.com). Located close to Waynesville, North Carolina, and only 30 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina, this exceptional conference and retreat “campus” welcomes corporate and church groups of all denominations. Come and enjoy a spiritually rewarding Feast as you celebrate with fellow brethren in a pleasant, peaceful environment. Expected attendance this year is around 650.
Feast Services and Activities: Daily services will be held in Shackford Hall on the campus. We plan to have a family day activity and other events although we expect to reduce the number of organized events this year so you can take advantage of the numerous sightseeing and entertainment opportunities throughout the area.
Daily Temperature: In early October the average daily high temperature is 70 degrees and a low of 50 degrees.
Housing: Accommodations are all located on the campus that includes motels, efficiencies, cottages, condominiums and fully furnished homes and chalets. Prices range from $75 and up per night.
Parking and Trolley Service: You can drive to daily services at Shackford Hall from your lodging or board a trolley, tram or mini-bus that makes regular stops throughout the campus to pick up and drop off visitors.
Dining and Shopping: There are many restaurants in nearby Waynesville (five-to-nine-minute drive), in Maggie Valley (about 10 minutes), Asheville (30 minutes) and throughout the area. Available dining ranges from fast food and pizza to a perfectly done steak and the latest in regional cuisine. There are also plentiful shopping opportunities throughout the area.
Recreation: On the campus enjoy picturesque 200-acre Lake Junaluska for canoeing, kayaking and fishing (North Carolina license required). There is a 3.8-mile lakeside walking trail, fitness center, volleyball, basketball, tennis, mini-golf, children’s playground, 18-hole golf course, gift/coffee shop and more.
Entertainment, Education, Attractions: The area includes the world-renowned Biltmore Estate in Asheville featuring 250-rooms, art, antiques and lovely gardens; Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, a 53 mile scenic railway tour including two tunnels and 25 bridges; Historic Cherokee, homeland of the Native-American Cherokee people; Blue Ridge Parkway, the “backbone” of the scenic mountain region; Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers many opportunities for exploring and discovering the natural and cultural history of these mountains; plus there are numerous other areas you can investigate upon arrival.
Note: On Lake Junaluska’s informational signs there are small crosses and there is a large cross at the far end of the lake. However, there are no crosses in the hall where services will be held.
