×We’re very happy and excited to be returning to Snowshoe, West Virginia, for the Feast of Tabernacles! If you are yearning to keep the Feast in a location that is somewhat secluded away from the day-to-day hustle and bustle, but still provides ample activities for everyone in the family to enjoy after services, then the small mountaintop village of Snowshoe Resort may just be for you!
Snowshoe Resort is a quaint village with 11,000 spectacular acres of mountain wilderness resting on top of Cheat Mountain in West Virginia. There is a nice variety of restaurants in the village, and the resort is able to offer housing to accommodate a wide range of budgets, from motel rooms to five-bedroom condominiums. Daytime temperatures in late September and early October can range from the 50s to 70s with cool, crisp overnight temperatures. Being on top of the mountain should provide for spectacular views of the surrounding fall colors during the day!
You can get a live glimpse of the village by going to any of the several live webcams positioned within the resort (www.snowshoemtn.com/media-room/snowshoe-village-live-cam).
There are many things to see and do at the resort, including a lake with canoes and paddle boats, ski lift rides, mountain biking, golfing, an indoor/outdoor heated pool, hiking and more. Nearby is the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Green Bank Science Center, Greenbrier River Trail and the Cass Scenic Railroad. About 90 minutes away is the Greenbrier—an iconic luxury resort built in 1778 and famous for housing the once-secret U.S. Government emergency bunker.
We are planning to have many of the traditional Feast activities, such as a family dance, seniors luncheon, teen activities and of course plenty of time for fellowship!
Services will be held within walking distance of virtually all housing. A free shuttle will be available to pick up those in need at their front door and take them to the front door of the Expo Center for services.
A couple things to consider, before selecting a festival location. Presently we only have Snowshoe contracted for the 2018 Feast and do not yet know if we will be returning next year, so if you have ever considered Snowshoe, this might be the year to go. Also, the resort is 4,848 feet above sea level, and this elevation might be a challenge for those with breathing difficulty, so please be mindful of this when making your plans.
