The Day of Pentecost is especially significant to Christians because on the first Pentecost after Jesus Christ's death, God established the New Testament Church through the giving of the Holy Spirit. This gift of the Holy Spirit was a promise made by God the Father that would give Christians the power to witness of Jesus throughout the world. The Spirit of God, in the lives of Christians today, convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:8). Have you ever considered how God's Holy Spirit working in our lives today will convict the world?

Michael Phelps and his wife Laura, and daughter Kelsey, attend the Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Flint Michigan congregations, where Michael serves as pastor.  Michael and Laura both grew up in the Church of God.  They attended Ambassador University in Big Sandy for two years (1994-96) then returned home to complete their Bachelor's Degrees.  Michael enjoys serving in the local congregations as well as with the pre-teen and teen camp programs.  He also enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and running.
